Do you think names should be a compromise even if it's both not your favourite?

There is a name that I loved and my husband wasn't so keen which I was gutted about. I was talking to my friend about this, and she mentioned she knew someone who didn't take no for an answer and named their baby the name she liked anyway regardless of her husband not loving it like she did. I just think I would feel to guilty doing that. Do you think it should be 50/50 or even a compromise name I don't know how common this is who gets the final say.

Never would have picked a name he didn't like, there was one name I loved but he didn't like that I know we couldn't use, but he very much did let me name them tbh, he genuinely liked the names I picked so it was easy but I think DH felt it was more "my right" though he never said that out loud.

Choosing the family car however....yeah I don't get a say in that!

With our daughter we both agreed and had the same top name, so that was easy.

With our twin sons it was a bit trickier as I felt they needed to go together (but not be matchy) so we ended up with my favourite boys name and his second favourite from our long list, which felt like a pair.

I had another pair in mind comprising of his favourite boys' name and another I loved, but he hated this name (the one I liked I mean) so didn't go for it. I wasn't willing to just use my favourite and his favourite; they sounded like kids from two totally different families!

I've had a bit more sway with middle names, choosing 2 of the 3.
