I know this isn't in the top 10 but can I have opinions on Bradley (Brad) please?

My DS is Bradley, he's in his late 30's and gets called Brad. It was quite unusual when he was a baby though.

SallyWD · 20/04/2024 13:01

Sorry I don't like it although I've heard worse.

BingoMarieHeeler · 20/04/2024 13:10

I think it’s a friendly and cuddly name. I get good vibes.

Dont worry about top 10 - when your kid gets to school you’ll notice that most other people don’t worry about top 10 either!

ginasevern · 20/04/2024 13:16

I think it's a positive not to chose a name in the top ten, why would anyone want to name their child the same as zillions of others.

BoleynMemories13 · 20/04/2024 13:36

It's not to my personal taste (especially Brad, which I'm really not keen on) but as long as you love it that's all that matters.

There were loads in the late 90s-mid 00s, meaning most Bradley's are currently in their late teens-late 20s. Some people will see that as the name now feeling dated, others will see it as a great thing that it's no longer popular. We all have different tastes but the only feelings which really matter is what you are his Dad think. You need to pick a name to please yourselves, not other people.

I quite like it, I know a couple of Bradley's, one a tween and one a teen, both nice boys. I've never heard of Bradley bear or known them be referred to as that.

Yep, your kids name is probably awful too.

Doesn't matter though.

The OP is asking for opinions, there’s no point telling her she should use it if she likes it. She knows she can use it if she wants.

theduchessofspork · 20/04/2024 14:26

Anyway, I don’t like it personally OP, and I think Brad is hard to pull off for a Brit.

It really isn't, I know 4 Brad/Bradleys ... It's fine.

BreatheAndFocus · 20/04/2024 14:46

Sorry, I don’t like Bradley. It reminds me of a tool or DIY: “Pass me the Bradley, Steve”. Brad sounds too American and kind of jokey (possibly because of Brad Pitt).

There are much, much nicer names out there IMO.

Shitlord · 20/04/2024 14:47

It's a bit naff sounding, sorry. Nothing wrong with it or bad associations but nothing great either.

Longdarkcloud · 20/04/2024 17:47

Good strong name. I’ve known a few. Not my choice but apart from that I’ve got nothing negative to say. You like then go for it.

You know this is a forum right? And people express different opinions? That is the entire point of it.

You think it’s fine.

I think names like Bradley and Cooper don’t work here. The fact that some people have them is neither here nor there.

We are neither of us right or wrong, they are just opinions.

GreenMarigold · 20/04/2024 22:42

I don’t mind it. For me it is similar to Cody, Rhett, Ryan.

I know a 6 year old Bradley who is a bit of a drip, so that's the association for me

You call a six year old a drip. Wow.

Agreed, very nasty to call a six year old a drip, Pathetic if I am honest.
The above said, I am sorry, but I dislike the name Bradley.

mathanxiety · 03/05/2024 01:50

It hasn't held Bradley Cooper back...

All the same, I think of a forty-something father of three who works as an accountant when I hear the name.
