Serena or Rose/Rosie?

I think we’ve narrowed it down to these two - one currently very popular whereas the other never really has been. Big brother is Louis.

Still open to other suggestions too.

Serena.

I like Seren too. Or Selina, Simone, Sloane, Scarlett.

SOxon · 14/04/2024 08:05

Serena Rose

Moreteaandchocolate · 14/04/2024 08:47

Love both!
Rose / Rosie just edges it for me - classic, timeless, classy, elegant, pretty for all ages. Serena is a great option if you want something less commonly used though.

theduchessofspork · 14/04/2024 12:25

Serena is lovely and way underused, I’d go for that.

Rose is nice, I wouldn’t use Rosie as a full name, but either way there are an awful lot of them. If you did go for it perhaps Rosanna so she has the option of a more unusual form.

Maybe Serena Rosamund? as Rose is so overdone as a middle name also

Other ideas

Ines
Marianne
Francesca
Frances
Susannah
Adela
Verity
Felicity
Jasmine
Philippa (Pippa)
Elsbeth

I really like Serena.

Nothing against popular names per se, but Rosie has never been a favourite of mine. Rose is preferable but I feel Rosie is pretty inevitable. I much prefer Serena.

Serena Rose?

Lynnestevens · 14/04/2024 13:28

I like them both, Rose was on our list but was put off as we knew another Rose. Serena is just so associated with Gossip Girl for me but I'm sure these days its not for most people

SunsetAtTheRiver · 14/04/2024 13:30

Serena. I don’t like Rose or Rosie at all.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 14/04/2024 13:39

Serena is lovely - very elegant and timeless. Rose is a simple, pretty, classic. Either would be nice choices, maybe decide based on which goes better with your surname . I’m slightly more drawn to Serena personally, since it stands out- there’s a lot of girls with Rose in their name.

I wouldn’t use Rosie though ( unless as nn for when she’s little) - it’s quite trendy and cutesy imo.

DuchessOfSausage · 14/04/2024 21:16

If you are choosing Rose or Rosie put that on the BC. I don't see the point of a long name for the sake of 'options'.
Serena is nice but I know a few but the spellings vary.

Rosie isn't childish. I think Huntington-Whitely, Duffield, Boycott, Jones, Cooper etc

SkaneTos · 14/04/2024 21:21

I voted for Rose/Rosie, but Serena is a beautiful name too.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 14/04/2024 21:24

I prefer Serena, but Rose/Rosie goes better with Louis.

Firsttimebabymama · 15/04/2024 09:56

Serena is lovely imo.

I used to think that, but now I associate it with the heroic Rosie Duffield it feels different. Although I don’t think Rosie’s her full name.

DuchessOfSausage · 15/04/2024 19:37

She's a Rosemary.

Workawayxx · 15/04/2024 19:42

Serena is beautiful and was one of my top names for my DD but it was only a maybe for DP. Absolutely lovely name 😍😍.

BunInTheOven3 · 16/04/2024 10:16

Oooh, they are almost neck and neck now!

Seren or Rosa

BunInTheOven3 · 16/04/2024 12:45

@SnowFrogJelly My only objection to Seren is that it’s Welsh and we don’t have any connections with Wales.

I don't like Seren. It's like calling a child Star, and it doesn't sound very nice - Serrun.
It's nothing to do with Serena.

Rosa and Rose/Rosie are fine. Not keen on Rosalie, Rosemary, Roseanne etc.

The poll is at exactly 50:50. Would anyone else like to add a vote before it closes in the next hour?
