I keep seeing this name in a very wide range of spellings - what spelling works?
(I don't have a baby to name, I just love this name.)

That John B Keane play Sive is really sad. ☹️
I'd spell it Sadhbh.
I really dislike the name Tadhg.

What about Caher with Saiveen as a middle name?

Very good!🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yeah I saw it in the Gaiety in February. I cried!

Love Tadhg but I hate that some people spell it Tadgh.

😂
I wish.
My heart always sank in English class when we were asked to produce a haiku @ScubaDivingSpiderMonkey

@LadyEloise1, you should be on the Leaving Cert syllabus. A friend of mine called Gary once did bar work in NYC and claims he’s tips went up hugely when he swapped name badges with a guy called Tadhg.

No flies on him! Ain't no one going misty eyed for a Gary.

I'm convinced that's why some people use them. Pretty little hats for vowels! Grin

Never come to NI. I know a Déarbhíle.

EspressoMacchiato · 06/04/2024 13:50

Dubliner here.

We say “Siyve” and spell it Sadhbh

I was going to say that earlier but stopped myself in case it caused offence! I've noticed they're extremely fond of a superfluous fada, or three, in Northern Ireland!

Well Rían is in the top five boys' names for 2023, according to the CSO. So it's not just NI.
i guess some people are so sad about missing fadas, they like to throw in some extras to make up.

Would Déarbhíle be pronounced Dervealya ?

She pronounces it Dervla obviously enough but in my head in screaming "dair-veela".
