What are your thoughts on the name
Georgina ? What middle names would you put with it. What type of child/adult do think of when you hear the name ?

I like it. It was on our list 20 years ago but we had a boy. I know a Georgina in her 50’s, she’s very pretty and the name suits her. Keep the middle name short.
Georgina Kate
Georgina Ruth
Georgina Ann

pontipinemum · 25/03/2024 10:16

I like it, there was 1 in my class growing up, she was always Georgina, no NN, a lovely girl. I worked with a Gina she'd be mid 30s now, I'm not sure but she was probably Georgina also.

I don't think I would have any preconceptions about a girl with that name

oldnorsesaga · 25/03/2024 10:20

I was once told it's posh name, but I consider that a plus. I liked it when I was younger.
I don't have it on my list no longer, because I dislike obvious nickname Gina and there's no good alternative.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 25/03/2024 10:21

It's a lovely name. There was one nn Georgie in my school back on the 70s, the first one I'd come across, and I always thought it was cool. I like Gina too. I don't think there are any negatives with it - a Georgina or Georgie could fit in anywhere/do anything. I wouldn't go for Georgia though (a US state and a country).

Lifeinlists · 25/03/2024 10:23

I like it and the one I know is always called Georgina. It doesn't have to be shortened.

Moreteaandchocolate · 25/03/2024 10:26

I really like Georgina - it has lots of lovely short versions if you / she likes (Ginny, Georgie, Georgia, Gina - one Georgina I know goes by Jo). Familiar but not overused. I have a personal preference for Georgia as I love the simplicity of two syllable names that don’t tend to be shortened, but I know that’s a personal thing.

Mrsjayy · 25/03/2024 10:28

Oh I like it it's a lovely name. No clue about middle names as I personally think middle names should be after someone in your life, a grandparent etc

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 25/03/2024 10:29

Love it 💕

As long as you are ok with her being a Georgie as a nn

Georgina Edith
Georgina Alice
Georgina Emma
Georgina Jayde

I think the middle name should be shortish … great choice op

Nicebloomers · 25/03/2024 10:30

Classic, but not over used. I know one in her 50’s one in her 40’s one in her 30’s one in her 20’s and an 8 yr old. 2 shorten to George, one to Gina, one is always Georgina and the 8 yr old Georgie.

I much prefer it to Georgia.

Amdone123 · 25/03/2024 10:32

I love it, too. I know a couple my age ( mid 50s). It's classic and timeless.
Agree with a pp about middle names - all our children are named after someone in the family.

ShoesoftheWorld · 25/03/2024 10:32

Not my personal cup of tea, but absolutely fine as a name. I knew one at university who was, for want of a better word, posh, so those are my associations, but not necessarily the case for others.

Short middle name, max 2 syllables, no -a ending. Georgina Faye. Georgina Kate. Georgina Hope. Georgina Marie. Georgina Emily (OK, that's an exception, but it goes well, I think). Georgina Lucy.

Wishimaywishimight · 25/03/2024 10:33

I like it but prefer Georgia.

KirstenBlest · 25/03/2024 10:35

Nice. The ones I know are either 'George', 'Georgie' or 'Gina'.

theuglyduck · 25/03/2024 11:24

Don't mind it but much prefer Georgia

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 25/03/2024 13:32

I like it and think Kate goes amazing with it.
so Georgina Kate
other options:
Georgina Lucy
Georgina Paige
Georgina Ruth
Georgina Alice
Georgina Grace
Georgina Charlotte
Georgina Sophie
Georgina Rosie
Georgina Rose
Georgina Carla
Georgina Kara
Georgina Katie

WhoaJayShettybambalam · 25/03/2024 13:37

I knew two growing up. One went by George and one known as Ginny. Both lovely, popular girls. Very sporty.

Middle name I think something short and classic like Anne, Kate, Rose.

Mumofgirls2017 · 25/03/2024 17:28

Someone who was born in the 80s/90s, is quite posh, sporty, not very girly.

georgina louise
georgina claire
georgina caroline
georgina rose
georgina mary
georgina marie
georgina elizabeth

LemonadeQueen · 25/03/2024 18:58

Lovely name. I know an older georgina in her 30s calls herself George for short.

theduchessofspork · 25/03/2024 20:10

I like it, the one I know is known by a mix of Georgina and Georgie

It was a ‘posh’ name a generation ago, but Georgia was so popular 20 years ago I can’t imagine it would be now.

I’d use a family name in the middle if you have one you like, but maybe..

Georgina Charlotte
Georgina Iris
Georgina Frances
Georgina Lucy
Georgina Sophie
Georgina Madeleine

Probably not too ‘uh’ endings and you probably want to avoid the May / Rose / Grace / hope cliche

FangsForTheMemory · 25/03/2024 21:05

Like others, I prefer Georgia. Georgina gets shortened to Gina.

PickledScrump · 25/03/2024 23:47

I know a few, all
20s and 30s now. None of them could be described as posh. One of them says it Georginaaar which grates on me.

Moveoverdarlin · 25/03/2024 23:51

I love it.

Stickyricepudding · 26/03/2024 05:28

Georgina Simone

NotFastButFurious · 26/03/2024 12:43

I knew a couple growing up who'll be in their mid 40's now. One was lovely and very arty, had a very boho type mum who probably had quite a posh background and the other was a type 1 bitch and known as George. I don't think I've known any others until recently when there's been one at work. She's about mid 20's and seems to go by her full name. I know a Gina too but I don't know if she's just Gina or Georgina.
