Osian, Persy and ?

Baby number 3 due soon. We currently have Osian and Persy (short for Persephone) and are completely out of ideas for names that fit. Osian is the only boys name we've ever agreed on so it was fortunate Persy's a girl.
However, we're now getting towards crunch time and can't find the perfect third name. We don't know what we're having, I think we could probably settle on a girl's name if that's what we have but cannot think of a boy's name.
Please offer any and all suggestions to help us out.

Balonz? I pity children with such pretentious names!

Balonz is a v different type of name so you might want to work on your name jokes

Osh-an

it's Welsh.

I don't think John, as suggested by a few posters now, is anywhere special enough.

How about Stjohn?

Or Stjean if you want to differentiate him from all the other Stjohns at preschool by pronouncing it with a French accent?

I think the name Prunella is due a comeback.

Osian is a v popular current Welsh name and Persephone is a less popular historical Greek name. Are you looking for a theme OP or is it sounds that you like? I'm with the pp in liking Miles!

If you want to stick with Welsh boys names then perhaps
Taliesin

I can’t quite tell if you know it’s Sinjun? (Well at least I think it is? ). Apologies if you do.

Prob not in the same league but I’ve always liked Elspeth as a name. Wish I’d used it.

The short answer is blame our dads. My dad's Welsh and wanted to name me Osian if I was a boy. My grandparents had a neighbour with the name and he was such a lovely man I fell in love with it too. My wife's family is Greek and her dad used to tell her and her siblings all the ancient myths as bedtime stories, on long car journeys, when they were ill and any other opportunity he got so she wanted something from those stories to honour her dad. We had a few ancient Greek names we considered though we liked the way Osian and Persy sounded together best then when she was born it seemed obvious it was her name.
So we're not really going for a theme, just how they sound together.

I wouldn't worry about how they sound together. That isn't important. Well it is important but just for you as parents not for the people that have to have the name.
The important thing is that the name is something that people want to live with all their life without being stigmatised for.

GogLais · 17/03/2024 11:47

@Annymania , Oshan. Osh rhymes with posh, an rhymes with can.
It's a Welsh boy's name and very popular.

Twazique · 17/03/2024 11:56

I would go for a different theme, neither Welsh nor Mythological, then they each have their own themes.

Biblical - Kezia Ezra Caspar
Nature - Sorrel Faunia Rowan
Scottish - Catriona Kier

CaffiSaliMali · 17/03/2024 13:24

Macsen is another Welsh boys name with some history/mythology behind it (Macsen Wledig/Magnus Maximus). Macs (max) for short. Pronounced MAX-en (en to rhyme with hen and pen).

Idris, Elis, Taliesin, Tomos and Owain are all nice too.

You could also consider a name with a historical/mythological theme which isn't either Welsh or Greek in origin so the names of all 3 have something in common but each child has an origin of their own.
