Really lovely.

Snugglemonkey · 06/03/2024 11:33

I would use Gracie as a nn and Grace as the proper name. It is lovely.

takemeawayagain · 06/03/2024 11:43

I agree with Grace as name and Gracie as NN.

Sunnnybunny72 · 06/03/2024 11:48

Grace is nice.

LadyDanburysHat · 06/03/2024 11:51

You really need to give Grace as a proper name. I know a Gracie who is now 23 years old and it sounds twee.

Moreteaandchocolate · 06/03/2024 12:43

I love Gracie for a child, but if I imagine myself going into a work meeting, I’d much rather have the option to introduce myself as Grace (and keep Gracie as an affectionate version for friends and family). So I’d personally put Grace on the birth certificate then Gracie day to day so she has options when she’s older. Lovely name!

DontGiveADuck · 06/03/2024 12:57

Twee, too cutesy for a grown up and Grace is one of the most overused middle names currently. Usually hyphenated.

Rosesanddaisies1 · 06/03/2024 12:59

I'd go for Grace as it suits an adult more, then use Gracie as a nickname

amz4 · 06/03/2024 14:00

I really love the name Gracie 😊

MaloneMeadow · 06/03/2024 15:33

Go with Grace and use Gracie as a nickname - it’s sweet on a two year old but way too childish on a teenager, I’ve met one and have always thought that it was an odd choice to have Gracie as her ‘proper’ name

theduchessofspork · 08/03/2024 09:41

As a nn for Grace yes. Too twee as a first name

pambeesleyhalpert · 09/03/2024 12:31

I know a 2 year old Gracie and one in her 30s. I feel strange calling the older one Gracie as it feels like a cutesy NN. I love Grace

RogueFemale · 11/03/2024 03:03

Grace is one of the most popular current girl names. I wouldn't choose a name that's so popular. It's nice for a girl (or boy) to feel a little bit unique.

mum1345 · 11/03/2024 21:00

I went to school with a Gracie and it really suited her as a teenager. I think it's a lovely name and changes it up a bit from the more commonly used Grace,

oneinamillieon · 21/03/2024 21:32

grace on the birth certificate, gracie is much nicer than grace in my opinion, but i wouldn't want to introduce myself as gracie at an interview (quite hypocritical since my name is millie but there's absolutely no way i'm calling myself millicent!)

miniaturepixieonacid · 22/03/2024 11:31

I think it's cute but definitely see it as a sweet nickname for Grace, not a name in its own right. Although I know it has become so. I know a Faith and and a Hope (not related!) who are often called Faithy and Hopie by family but I don't think anyone would ever claim those are names. I'm not sure why Gracie has developed differently.

Toddlerteaplease · 22/03/2024 12:29

I know a Gracie, and it seems a bit odd on a teenager. Grace is lovely though.

CharlieBoo · 22/03/2024 14:46

Grace is beautiful and classic. Gracie is a nn which is don’t feel is as nice at all

MarleneH · 08/08/2025 18:12

Gracie is a lovely classic name. It was very popular in the 1800’s. I see it as an old fashioned name up there with Nancy, Sadie etc. I love vintage names and for me, Gracie just sits more vintage than the bog standard Grace.
Gracie rings differently than the boring Grace, and I don’t think it’s ‘twee’ at all. I know of a few grown up Gracie’s, one being Gracie Abrams, having a sweet name never stopped her from becoming worth millions!

Id go with Gracie, and if she so wishes as an adult, she could go by Grace just as Katherine’s go by Kate, or how Abigail’s go by Abbie, or how Thomas’ go by Tom. But also in 20 years, with how popular the name has become, it won’t feel ‘twee’..

MarleneH · 08/08/2025 18:15

Also, my nan was looked after in hospital by a lovely doctor named Gracie, again it just didn’t sound twee at all. It really suited her actually.

Whichusernamenow415 · 08/08/2025 18:18

I have a Grace. Despite its popularity she’s never known another child with same name so far. We call her Gracie at home.

Alexandrine · 08/08/2025 18:26

Classic Grace with the nickname Gracie is far nicer imo. I understand the fad for nicknames as given names has been going strong for a while now, but eventually it has to end and I wonder if all these cute nicknames will seem dated in future.

ILikeBigBurpsAndICannotLie · 08/08/2025 18:29

Grace on birth certificate but introduce her to everyone as Gracie. Otherwise they’ll just call her Grace. She can change to Grace if she wants when she’s older.

Agree Gracie a bit sickly sweet for an adult, but very cute for a kid.

Maxorias · 08/08/2025 21:40

Not keen because when I hear it it makes me think of Grease (to be fair the similarity is even more obvious in my own language).

Aside from that it's fairly inoffensive so why not.

I agree that the official name should be Grace.

BootballJoy · 08/08/2025 22:43

I much prefer Gracie to Grace. The only Gracie I've met is in her thirties. Doesn’t make me think childlike or twee at all. More American vintage/1900s style. Similar to Gertie, Mamie, Trixie, Bessie, Nancy etc.
