Aila or Alisa!

I can’t decide between Aila or Alisa for my DD2.

Which of these names do you think sounds better?

Have you considered Aphra?

I think you made the right choices when you pared it down to the final two!

Both are lovely names but I definitely vote Alisa: it is stronger and has more character and goes better with Aria 🙂

Aila as “eye-luh” - People will spell it Isla
Alisa as “A-lee-sah”

Ailsa is nicer than either of them.

Don't call her Aila if you want people to say it like Isla. you're condemning her to a lifetime of "no, you say it like this....."

I know someone calked Alisa.

If it was me I'd go with Isla but I'd be deliberately avoiding the same initials - it seems like a nice idea until they get older and both start getting mail addressed to Miss A Surname. I had a friend at school who had the same first initial as her sister and dad and it ended up being really annoying for all of them.

Your first option sounds like you're trying to uniquely spell Isla. It will still be pronounced Isla, so seems pointless. Alisa is a beautiful name!

Aurelia is beautiful. The others are fine, but could lead to pronunciation issues.

One of these is my name! I've never met another me but delighted that it's mostly liked.

I do get all sorts of pronunciations but that doesn't bother me in the slightest.
