From your list, my favourites are Remi and Emi (prefer this as a short version for Emilia / Emmeline).

Some of the others are a bit too out there for my personal taste.

Polly
Romy
Rowan (nn Rue)
Romilly
Taryn
Marnie (poss short for Romana)
Ria / Rhea
Wren
Leia
Aspen
Suri
Connie
Cady
Saffron
Juno
Aster

Dakota
Lucinda
or
Aspen

ErrolTheDragon · 26/02/2024 12:01

They're ok except Emi which just sounds like a NN, any of the relevant full names would be better.

And Rue. wtf would anyone call a kid rue?Confused

HenleyHenley · 26/02/2024 12:05

Posie/Posy - pretty name but very girlie.
Primrose - too frilly. If they were a tomboy it wouldn't really go. Same as above.
Remi - like
Rue - sounds shortened
Emi - prefer Emmie
Tatum - boys name round here
River - common middle name
Bonnie - LOVE

How about:
Devon
Ocean
Clover
Hazie
India
Meadow
Shiloh
August
Juno
Wren
Monet
Mabel
Juniper
Goldie
Lainey
Essielle (little girl in DDs class is called this nn Essie which I think is cute!)

Mumofgirls2017 · 26/02/2024 12:46

B0G0F · 26/02/2024 13:03

Posie/Posy - too twee
Primrose - too prim
Remi - Rem was what we called the 'remedial' class pupils at school
Rue - It means bitter regret or sorrow. Street in french
Emi - looks like Emu. Emmie short for Emmeline is OK
Tatum - surname, a bit American
River - dreary and wet
Bonnie - bonnie means jolly and plump where I am

Bonnie or Primrose nn Posy are the best, but the others are dreadful

BlueChampagne · 26/02/2024 13:04

Vashti
Topaz

Nicebloomers · 26/02/2024 13:15

Primrose and Posy are the nicest. I hadn’t thought about using Posy as a nn for Primrose as a previous poster suggested but that’s a lovely option.

DontGiveADuck · 26/02/2024 13:39

Posy is just too twee and cutesy. Maybe good for a toddler but not for anyone over the age of 2

Dislike Primrose and Prim is just ugly.

Remi’s were also what the remedial students were called at school unfortunately.

I quite like Emi but it just feels like it’s short for Emily.

Jessieshome · 26/02/2024 14:39

Interesting names!

Posie/Posy - This irritates me for some reason!

Primrose - I love this name, it is my favourite flower and if I'd had a girl I would have liked to have called her this, although the short version of Prim is horrible. I think a lot of people dislike it unfortunately, which is a shame I think as the spring wild flower is so joyful.

Remi - Isn't this a boys name, there's an actor called Remi isn't there? But I guess it prob doesn't matter.

Rue - bit weird, is it short for something? There's a lot of Reubens about and people might here it and think they are called Reuben, which I also think is a boys name?

Emi - How's this pronounced? Emmie? Eee-my, Eh-my, Eee-mee? Looks like it is 'short' for Emma or Emily

Tatum - Surely this is a boys name? Sounds very masculine to me anyway.

River - Again I think quite masculine as I think of River Phoenix, but that possibly doesn't matter.

Bonnie - Another name I really fancied if I had a girl but everyone told me it's a dogs name and then I actually met a dog called Bonnie!

Joy? Possibly a bit old fashioned, but full of happiness!

Good luck.

Love Essielle! So pretty.

BurbageBrook · 26/02/2024 15:10

I like Bonnie for a girl and River for a boy. Please don't use Rue, it means 'to regret'!

MaloneMeadow · 26/02/2024 15:16

They’re all far too wet and frilly. Also can’t understand why anyone would want to name their child Rue - are you naming a French street or a sauce mix?!

Or a feeling of regret, or a bitter herb.

HuntingoftheSnark · 26/02/2024 15:22

Primrose and Rue are both characters in the first Hunger Games book. How about Rae?

And Posy, while cute for a little girl, always reminds me of Great Uncle Matthew "her name is Posy. Unfortunate but true".

I quite like River.

B0G0F · 26/02/2024 15:38

The sauce is Roux.

nameXname · 26/02/2024 19:21

Posie/Posy - Posy if you must, short for Rosemary or Josephine. Both v. good and dignified names for an adult.
Primrose - OK
Remi - a mans name. Means 'oarsman'. Why would you want to call a girl this?
Rue - means regret. Do you regret the baby?
Emi - Emmie OK, Emmeline even better. Emma also a very nice and rather distinguished name.
Tatum - after the film star?
River - I only know baby boys with this name (and poor old River Phoenix, of course, also male).
Bonnie - perfectly OK, but I kow several dogs with the name. As previous poster says, it means healthy, pretty and (for babies) plump. There used to be 'bonnie babies' competitions.

MirandaBlu · 26/02/2024 19:59

I think Bonnie and River (while Phoenix is probably the most famous, the Rivers I've known in real life were all girls/women) are my favorites from your list. OTOH, Remi/Remy is very male to me. I like the previous suggestions of Romy and Rosalie. I love the idea of Rue, based on the herb, but the other connotations would probably put me off.

Some additional possibilities?

Bay
Briony
Daphne
Esme
Fern
Laurel
Lumi (Finnish girls' name meaning "snow")
Naomi
Sage
Sylvie
Teagan/Tegan

You’d love to name a child after a herb?? Coriander, Parsley, Fennel - the possibilities are endless! /s

Lovage
Savory
Lemngrass
Tarragon
Fenugreek
Yarrow
Chervil
Borage

Remi - reminds me of remy the rat 🐀
rue - reminds me of Nickelodeon episode where nerd says he will Rue the day. Also hate the name with all my heart
Emi - ❤️❤️❤️ absolutely love I would use it as nickname for Emilia or Emily tho
Tatum - I don’t know never really heard of it but reminds me of tantrum
River - nice
Bonnie - just no.

my suggestions:
Yasmin
Quinn
Lexie
Rory (Aurora)
Suri
Ayla (said like Isla)
Lacy
Lois
Tessie

miniaturepixieonacid · 27/02/2024 22:34

Posie/Posy - it's sweet but seems like a small child's name. I know a Posy short for Josephina but granted that's not an obvious diminutive.
Primrose - pretty. You could potentially use Posy for short.
Remi - like it. Cool and quirky.
Rue - dislike. It doesn't sound like a complete name. I only know it for a boy as short for Reuben.
Emi - Ok as a diminutive for Emma, Emily, Emmeline, Emilia etc. Doesn't seem finished on its own.
Tatum - Very American. Sounds more like a boy's name to me though I get it's probably unisex. Not keen.
River - like it but more for a boy. It's quite for a girl too though.
Bonnie - not keen. A bit twee.

Other ideas:
Amberley, Aven, Ariel, Aphra, Bronte, Blair, Cleo, Carys, Celyn, Delphi, Dulcie, Devon, Effie, Etta, Enya, Everly, Fallon, Fern, Genesis, Giselle, Hadley, Hebe, Inez, Juno, Juniper, Kendra, Kiki, Keltie, Leonie, Livia, Mika, Mala, Misty, Nova, Noa, Nyah, Odette, Piper, Pippi, Quinn, Romy, Robyn, Rowan, Ramona, Saffron, Star, Sadie, Taryn, Tegan, Tess, Vivi, Vashti, Zia, Zeryn

theduchessofspork · 28/02/2024 00:03

They are more twee than out there OP - I quite like Bonnie though

Maybe
Marina / Marnie
Cassia / Cassie
Philippa / Pippa
Nancy
Zoe
Robin

Posie/Posy - if it’s a pet name for Rose/Rosanna then cute for a toddler but not for an adult. Polly is more usable

Primrose - it’s terribly twee, and inexplicably popular

Remi - 75 year old French bloke

Rue - as in Kangar or a French street?! No

Emi - short for Emmeline or Emerald then yes but not as a full name, not least because with that spelling it’s a bit close to Emu

Tatum - alcoholic actress

River - it’s not the worst, it’s pretty popular though, more so for boys

glasshalffull0 · 01/03/2024 19:56

Posie is very cutesy and babyish - I can't imagine a high flying career woman with the name Posie

Rue and Primrose are beautiful names

user1492757084 · 02/03/2024 00:00

Inspired from your list ..

Scarlett Primrose - Red, Posie
Sally Primrose - Sal
Calico Primrose - Cali
Imogen River - Imi
Genevieve Aster - Vivi
Sibyl Dimity
Raven Catriona - RaveCat
Fotini Rebel
Cressida Rue
River Francesca
