It's getting close to D-day and we can't decide on a name! First baby due imminently...
Which do you prefer of these?
(And any ideas on second names to go with either of these?)
Thank you! Blush x

He's going to be followed by kids meowing if you go for Felix.

In our experience, the only people to make comments about the name Felix are a minority of adult women, who show a strange concern that he’ll grow up believing he’s a cat. Luckily, my Felix understands he’s a human and isn’t particularly interested in the opinion of adult women, so it’s never really been an issue.

He’s been made fun of on occasion, but nothing to do with his name and he’s never been miaowed at!

Love Zachary/Zac.
No to Felix.

lioneggs · 24/02/2024 19:02

Felix by a mile

No he's not Felix is quite popular now

BebbanburgIsMine · 24/02/2024 19:08

Zac,

I think Felix is awful, sorry

CarriMarie · 24/02/2024 19:10

Zachary Felix sounds good.

With the parents maybe but children are cruel especially if your not sporty

Meowandthen · 24/02/2024 20:43

Zac as in Zachary or Zachariah? I assume you wouldn’t name him an abbreviation or diminutive.

Zac can be a standalone name

It is still an abbreviation.

Lifeinlists · 24/02/2024 22:21

Felix.
I think Jacob would be a good middle name

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 25/02/2024 07:51

Felix Henry
Zac Alexander

pixieeyes · 25/02/2024 12:26

Thanks everyone! Still very divided but nice to know there are people who like them both.
Still liking both names, now have a potential 3rd to add to the mix- Tobias (Tobi) .. more confusing!

Love Toby but not Tobias as much

NameChange30 · 25/02/2024 12:35

I love the name Toby (would spell it with a y, though, not "Tobi").
I like Zac too although would probably spell it Zach.
Felix is nice but I ruled it out because I couldn't shake the association with cat food for some reason. Good name though.

Other names I like (since we seem to have similar tastes!)
Ivo
Leo
Levi
Max

I like using family names as middle names, personally. Would you use your dad's or grandad's name as a middle name?

Some PPs have suggested Zac Felix / Felix Zac but I'd advise against that just in case you have another boy one day and want to use the other name for him.

Pieceofpurplesky · 25/02/2024 15:22

Zach.
Not a fan of Felix. Tobias is OK

Bluegetaniums · 25/02/2024 15:32

Zac

NameChange30 · 25/02/2024 16:35

Oh and there is another thread about the name Dexter atm... that seems similar to the names you like, too.

Zachary James
Zac Alexander

I don’t like Felix, reminds me of the cat.

Lalupalina · 01/03/2024 11:01

Zac

Felix is a well known cat 🐈 food brand

Orangetigereye · 01/03/2024 12:05

Mumsnetters get way too worked up about the Felix = cat thing. Maybe this would have been an issue 30 years ago, but the names is quite popular now with humans so it won’t be an issue. I know a couple of Felix’s so when I hear it now, I think of them.

DrJoanAllenby · 01/03/2024 12:05

Felix.
