Just flicking through Rightmove as we’re looking to move soon, when I came across this in a child’s bedroom. As there are no other words on the wall and no images I can’t be crazy to assume this is the child’s name? Perhaps I’m being mean but I cannot imagine calling my child Tortoise… 🐢 Would anyone else?

It really does look like Tortoise, doesn’t it? Maybe a nick name…..!!!!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 15/02/2024 20:31

I'm sure it's just a pet name.

FancyJapflack · 15/02/2024 20:33

Excuse me. That’s my sons name and it’s pronounced Tor-TWAHS.

Oneofthesurvivors · 15/02/2024 20:34

I'm sure it's just a nick name.

Soubriquet · 15/02/2024 20:35

In this day and age….you never know. I mean people name their child Wolf and Bear

My thoughts exactly! I would have thought a nickname 10 years ago, but not sure anymore

Maybe he's a shy child and they're hoping he will come out of his shell, then they might rename him?

Dapbag · 15/02/2024 20:44

Perhaps a real tortoise sleeps in the room.

trooc · 15/02/2024 20:46

Can you post the link I want to see the rest of the house?

I did try to reverse image search to find the listing but couldn't get it

My DH has always called my DS “monkey”. I remember when he was 6/7 he found out that he was born in the Chinese year of the monkey and was convinced this was why his nickname was “monkey”. I don’t think we would have celebrated it in such an anal fashion though.

StopTheBusINeedAWeeWeeAWeeWeeBagOChips · 15/02/2024 20:50

My dd is called Turtle by everyone 🤣 hardly anyone uses her actual name, so I would probably get Turtle put on something before her actual name. I don't think someone called their kid tortoise.

MadeOfAllWork · 15/02/2024 21:33

I’m guessing it’s a nickname.

Frasers · 15/02/2024 21:35

I call my child little monkey or little frog. I doubt it’s the child’s actual name.

It's a bit of a disappointment I must say, was hoping for something else
