Looking for a girls name to go with sibling Livia.

Shortlisted are Freya, Elena, Lilah and Penelope / Penny. Can’t decide !

Julia?

onlythebrave3 · 28/01/2024 22:31

Penelope is lovely and Penny/ Penelope is easier to say with Livia than your other options.

TwigTheWonderKid · 28/01/2024 22:36

Elena as it's also Italian or perhaps Claudia if you want to continue the Roman emperor theme?

Lemonyyellow · 28/01/2024 22:38

I like all of your shortlisted names, especially Freya and Lilah. Elena is nice but might become another Ellie. Penelope is nice but I personally love shorter names that don’t automatically get shortened

miniaturepixieonacid · 28/01/2024 23:04

I love Livia and think Elena goes best with it. Think all your suggestions are fine though - I'm less keen on Freya than the others but don't dislike it.

Not sure if you were asking for other ideas or just opinions on those but I also think Livia would go really well with:
Aria, Amaya, Aurora, Astrid, Bronte, Calista, Cassia, Camilla, Delphi, Danica, Dolcie, Effie, Etta, Enya, Erin, Elora, Evadne, Fabia, Fenella, Giselle, Hebe, Hana, Hazel, Ivy, India, Inez, Julia, Jessamy, Jemima, Kiran, Kayla, Kiki, Lorelai, Leonie, Mala, Mika, Mila, Mara, Nyah, Nova, Nia, Natalia, Phoebe, Robyn, Ramona, Romy, Romilly, Rivkah, Rhianna, Rosa, Sadie, Samya, Saffron, Saskia, Serena, Thea, Tara, Tamara, Thalia, Verity, Vanessa, Zara, Zia, Zeryn

Livia is a lovely name.

Penelope goes really well from your list.

What about
Daphne
Nadia
Cleo
Bianca
Xanthe

Doublebiscuit77 · 29/01/2024 10:28

I really love all your names apart from Lilah. I'd choose Freya but Elena and Penelope are both great.

Theresplendentemmaforbes · 29/01/2024 11:43

Elena or Freya

Eva
Sophie
Natalie

Nicebloomers · 29/01/2024 12:47

Freya or Elena I like the best from your list, but I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them.

DesertSnow · 29/01/2024 14:07

All nice names but like Elena the best.

octoberfarm · 29/01/2024 14:45

Freya is what first came to mind for me :) Also maybe Juliet?

Sunflower8848 · 29/01/2024 14:55

Is Livia a nickname for Olivia? I just read it out to my friend and she misheard twice, the first time Labia and the second Olivia…I would reconsider 😬

Amdone123 · 29/01/2024 14:58

I like all your names, except Lilah.
Livia and Esther ?
My first thought though was Grace.

todayshappening · 29/01/2024 14:59

@Sunflower8848 so rude she's not asking for an opinion on Livia. Also it's a "shortening" not nickname. How do so many people not know the difference 🙄

todayshappening · 29/01/2024 15:00

Elena works lovely x

DarkAcademia · 29/01/2024 15:01

Livia isn’t a shortened name - it’s a name in its own right, the most famous being the v powerful wife of the Emperor Augustus, hence the suggestions of names like Julia and Claudia above.

KirstenBlest · 29/01/2024 15:47

@Sunflower8848 , Livia is the name of the baby's sibling, and is a name in its own right.

Freya - overused to the point of being dull
Elena - too many different pronunciations and Ellie is overused
Lilah - don't like it and it doesn't go with Livia
Penelope/Penny - fine.

theduchessofspork · 29/01/2024 15:52

Elena ‘goes’ best - as in, they are both Italian and sound nice together.

Freya works too

I find Penny a bit wet, although I like Penelope nn Nell

Lilah is a bit stripper showgirl, and does make me think of the inflatables. I’d be annoyed if I was Lilah and my sister had an elegant and substantial name like Livia

Kay237 · 29/01/2024 17:23

Thanks for all the comments seems like Penelope is a fav… now to work on my husband

Not the point of the thread but I love the name Livia (and think she was a fascinating historical figure) - it’s on my list if I have a girl. I was just wondering, do you get many people calling her Olivia/presuming there’s a missing ‘O’ etc?

That’s one of the only things that’s putting me off at the moment!

In terms of sibling names you could stay classical (Julia, Claudia, Gaia, Antigone, Olympia, Cassandra, Aurelia, Hero, Theodora , Portia off the top of my head - although the rhyming might not appeal with some of those!).

Kay237 · 30/01/2024 06:28

Thanks for suggestions.
When we first introduce her we normally say “Livia… without the O.” And most people call her Livy or Liv so not normally a problem.
