Thoughts of these names ?
Do you know any?
It is a new one to make our shortlist- siblings are Henrietta and Alexander. (Etty and Alex)

I love Juliette, but given that our Henrietta goes by Etty, it’s probably a bit too close!

I'd discount Juliette as nickname we use is Etty. You could have Jet as a nickname

Fannyannie · 25/01/2024 19:38

Juliette couldn’t be Etty too though. And she might want to be one day.

How about Juliana or Georgiana ?

Lilysienna1 · 25/01/2024 19:41

Our daughter is Henrietta to us, but she uses Etty herself, so probably is too close. We may end up with 2 of them 😅

Juliet/Juliette is really lovely but agree it night be a a bit weird with an Etty already. (Unless you're happy with Jules?)

I like the Juliana suggestion. Other names in the same.vein for me are:

Clara/Clarissa
Flora/Florence
Daphne
Penelope
Thomasina (wildcard!)
Delphine
Althea
Coraline

Lilysienna1 · 25/01/2024 19:42

Juliana is quite nice actually.. and 4 syllables. I will run this past the DH thank you

I like Jules as a potential nn, but I liked Etta for Henrietta, and she hates it and is Etty. So I guess we should choose a name where Etty is not going to be a possible nn 😅

OP posts:
Lilysienna1 · 25/01/2024 19:44

Which may also rule out Verity, which was another possibility

Julia and Juliet are nice. Juliette is a middle aged french woman.

stclair · 25/01/2024 19:45

There are several Julia’s in my life despite it not been very popular. It’s a lovely name

questionsconfusion · 25/01/2024 19:45

Julia could me Jules for short. It's a nice name and don't hear it often.

DuchessOfSausage · 25/01/2024 19:45

Verity is better

questionsconfusion · 25/01/2024 19:47

Not sure about the name Verity. Any I know get shortened to V

Lilysienna1 · 25/01/2024 20:13

I’ve never met a Verity in real life so wasn’t sure if Etty might be used as a nickname or if that’s a bit of stretch. Vivi would be what springs to my mind first. (V V)

I love Annie but we couldn’t agree on a longer version that we both like. Kind of warming to Annelise

OP posts:
HillyHoney · 25/01/2024 20:21

Vivienne?

Windymcwindyson · 25/01/2024 20:23

Jules is awful and dated...
What about Georgia
Or Cecilia nn Cece?

daisypond · 25/01/2024 20:30

Julia is lovely. It’s a name with substance, like your other DC’s names. Even though it’s shorter, it still has three syllables. Jules is fine too.

I don’t like Juliette at all, though Juliet is fine. It’s a bit wishy-washy compared to Julia.

theduchessofspork · 25/01/2024 20:32

Henrietta (or Etty) and Juliet are too close, Julia is nice though

Onelife2024 · 25/01/2024 21:01

Juliette is lovely but agree you can’t risk another Etty! Julia is nice but I wonder whether a 4 syllable name would be lovely with your other two names (ideally with a 2 syllable nn) e.g.

Annabella (Annie)
Isabella (Issy)
Georgiana (Ginny)
Gabriella (Gabby)
Penelope (Penny)
Emilia (Emmy / Milly)
Liliana (Lily)
Theodora (Thea)
Adelina (Della / Lina / Addie)

asterel · 25/01/2024 21:09

I love both, though given you have a Henrietta, I’d go for Julia. Beautiful, classic name and I do know a couple of small Julias (aged 8 and 5), but not many - I always think it’s a lovely, underused name.

asterel · 25/01/2024 21:11

Another one which might initially sound a bit left field, but which I think is also a lovely and underused classic which goes really well with your other children’s names: Christabel.

I LOVE Christabel!! There was Christabel Pankhurst, and also the character in AS Byatt's Possession. See also: Arabel, which I've always loved but do admit can sound a lot like arable (as in farming 😁).

HillyHoney · 25/01/2024 21:30

Actually Emmeline would be another good option.
