Ok, Jared is lovely but out so Isaac or Ethan? (and I so hope I've spelt the names right this time lol!)

Following on from the badly spelt name saga of Isaac or JaredI think DH and I have decided not to go with Jared....but.....I'm not 100% about Isaac so any thoughts on Isaac or Ethan?

Once again all opinions are very welcome

Thanks in advance

Not Jared

Blu · 20/03/2008 17:51

I like Isaac.

littlerach · 20/03/2008 17:51

Ethan
Isaac

Don't like Jared

FranSanDisco · 20/03/2008 17:55

I prefer Isaac. I know alot of boys from the local Catholic Primary with Old Testament names - Isaac, Elijah, Jeremiah, Moses and so on. They are mainly of Black African heritage so not true that only Jewish people use these names these days.

minster · 20/03/2008 18:16

Isaac.

Don't like Ethan at all. Elijah is fabulous.

filthymindedlurker · 20/03/2008 18:19

Isaac is the best name imo.It means 'one who laughs' in Hebrew, I believe.
But it is getting quite trendy....

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 20/03/2008 18:27

Isaac nice

Zac sorry awful

Ethan OK always sounds a bit wimpy i think
Elijah is nice but soo now

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 20/03/2008 18:28

My 21 month ds is Isaac James (my Grannie's maiden surname was McIsaac, also my middle name).

We're up in Scotland and he is the only Isaac I know which is fantastic amongst all the Callum's and Lewis's!

I also love the meaning (he who laughs).

No-one has tried to shorten it as yet but I sometimes call him IJ.

21 month on and I still Love it (thank god).

Like Ethan too though, reminds me of Ethan from thirtysomething...

Nbg · 24/03/2008 13:34

My ds2 is Ethan James so obviously it is a wonderful name

Nbg · 24/03/2008 13:34

Oh and to Pelafina, my ds1 is Ellis.
So both boys have E names.

Not really a problem unless I am sleep deprived and get them mixed up

foxymagoo · 24/03/2008 13:53

I fancy Imogen if we have a dd next time round so that will be two I's. I think vowels roll off the tongue well.

BexieID · 26/03/2008 23:13

Jared/Jarod, Ethan & Isaac.

branflake81 · 28/03/2008 14:04

Not a big fan of any of them to be honest. Agree, I would think you were Jewish (not that that's a bad thing)

gagarin · 28/03/2008 14:15

Only use Ethan if you and all your family can say your "th" sounds (you know - do you say brother not bruvver) - otherwise Ethan is forever Efan which is not so pretty!

ScoobyDoo · 28/03/2008 14:16

My ds was nearly Isaac or Ethan then ended up being something else

I like them both, not keen on Jared.

newshmoo · 28/03/2008 16:28

think Ethan is a lovely name, my pals DS is called Nathan which is ok , Ethan is more male somehow

Ineedsomesleep · 28/03/2008 18:26

Sorry but don't like Ethan or Jared. Don't know if this will help to make up your mind this

ChocolateRockingHorse · 28/03/2008 18:31

Ethan isn't lovely IMHO. It sounds like an out of date form of anaesthetic.

Jared is lovely and much under-used which is a good thing.

orangehead · 28/03/2008 18:34

My 1st baby was going to be Isaac but sadly lost the baby. But I now have an Ethan. So I like both names
