Love the name Ari (arr-ree) always have done for a boy.

Would this work on a girl also?

Thanks

I know it as a boy's name (we say it A-re where I come from) but I suppose it would work as a girl's name too. I actually googled it and it says gender-neutral.

Short for Ariadne maybe? Or Aria, Ariel.. even Harriet

She might not appreciate having a boys name when she’s older so it gives her some choices

SkaneTos · 17/01/2024 21:41

I think it could work.

There is a character in "The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants"-books who is called Ari, her real name is Ariadne (Lena's mother).

It works but I’d give her a longer ‘proper’ name like Ariana, Ariella, Aria etc on the birth certificate to give her options when she’s older. Ari sounds like a nickname

I would think it was ‘arry. Like a chavvy Harry.

Arrietta - Ari

I prefer it as a shortening for a longer name for a girl, as it could be mistaken for Harry (with the “H” dropped) otherwise
