Struggling to choose from the below. I do like the idea of having an ‘ie’ ‘y’ sound at the end of the name but not bound by it.

Any opinions? Or more suggestions? Help!

Charlie
Harrison
Teddy (Is this too childish for a grown man?)
Archie
Henry
Freddie (Not sure I like Fred as a nickname)
Reggie (Can't decide if this name sounds like a nickname rather than a first full name but don’t like Reginald!)
George

I like George the most.
I also,like Reggie and Freddie.
Teddy can become Ted when older, or if you officially name the child Edward he can choose Ed/Eddie too.

Onelife2024 · 14/01/2024 08:02

George is my favourite (my ds name)

Love Henry too.

Freddie - nice for a child, as an adult would they become Fred - just to consider if you like that too?

Archie - again, lovely for a child, and will probably sound good in adults when all the young Archie’s grow up (but might date them to this era if that matters to you?)

Charlie - good name, just not to my taste

Teddy - love as a nn for Edward or Theodore - not keen as a standalone name

Harrison - I love Harry as a nn so would probably just use that if it was me

Suggestions: if you like the “y” ending, maybe a name where you can have a nn with an “y” ending as a child and they can adapt it as they get older?

Thomas (Tommy / Tom)
Samuel (Sammy / Sam)
Daniel (Danny / Dan)
Oliver (Olly)

Other nice names with “y” sounds at the end-

Louie
Toby
Stanley
Rory

George and Archie for me.
Teddy will always be a cockapoos name, although nothing wrong with Edward.

They are all good names.

Have a look at the most common names list over the last few years. Personally, I wouldn't use any that are in the top 20. My DC had 4 Henry's in their class, a couple of Charlie's as well. They are all known by their surnames.

Henry or freddie

sunflowerpinks · 14/01/2024 08:56

They're all very fashionable now and may well sound dated soon

George is the most timeless imo

George and Charlie are sooo popular. I know so many George’s.

They all just feel like popular boys names that I hear a lot, don’t particular love any of them.
