Stuck between these 2 names for our baby boy due in April!
We like them both, but currently I’m team Henry and husband is team Theo.. which is your favourite? 🥰

my first grandbaby is called theodore... so im obviously going to vote for that.. he is theo to family and close friends

Frazzled2108 · 28/08/2024 20:52

Love Theo! Hate Henry.

Mumofgirls2017 · 28/08/2024 22:15

Henry is one of my favourite names 🥰

Henry, it’s popular but classic, and he has Harry and Hal as nns if he likes (or Hank!)

Theo/dore is nice too - but it’s the name of the minute, there are SO many of them. Plus a lot of v similar sounding Leos.

OP's baby will have been named months ago. Hooray Henry - Wikipedia.
I've only heard people say Hurrah Henry.
I wouldn't let it put me off the name.

How interesting! Thanks for the link. Honestly as a non native Brit it’s so hard to know the nuances of these things. It seems to me like a super popular diffusely used name these days- the registrar told me off for using it because it’s too common! I think the coining of the term was fairly early like 1930s and there was a surge of talking about it in the 2010s. Probably for my ds’s 2024 birth generation it’s going to be an overused popular name. I wonder what OP went with!

I think the term is out of date now and doesn’t apply to those currently being given the name.

why would the registrar tell you off for using a popular name , that’s so out of order.

FayCarew · 29/08/2024 09:52

@ThreeLuckyStars , it was aimed at the poster who said 'Hoo Ha', but thanks.
I think she might have meant 'Hurrah' but never seen it written down.

Firebird83 · 29/08/2024 14:00

Theo is incredibly overused.

HerewegoagainSS · 29/08/2024 14:01

Henry.

Theo is common

pennypom · 10/09/2024 11:22

Henry!
Theodore is so hellishly common it's starting to become a joke.

TomatoSandwiches · 10/09/2024 11:25

Henry is my favourite, I like Theodore but it's been very popular the last 5 years, overkill.

Helloworld56 · 10/09/2024 11:27

Henry

Ellsx6 · 10/09/2024 11:28

Henry, classic and strong name in comparison to theo which is a little more soft I think. I don't think I'd call my baby theo as it's cute for a baby but no so cute for an adult. We're having the same problem now! It's jimmy or teddy for us but I love teddy for a child not so much for an adult🤣
