And how would you pronounce it?

What is the difference in sounding between 'Arry (like Harry with dropped H) and Ah-ree ? We are not from the uK and in past threads people said it's pronounced either 'arry or ' ah-ree but what does it mean? Any words to rhyme that will help me understand the difference?

We expect it to be pronounced like Ah - re .

Ah-ree. Aria but without the A, definitely not ‘Arry’. It’s a gorgeous name.

I know a little boy called Ari. His name is I pronounced Ah-ree. Lovely name. I did initially have to ask how it was pronounced as I wasn't sure if it was Arry ( not nearly as nice and just sounds like a mispronunciation of Harry) or maybe Air-y. I've only come across the name once.

Aris is rhyming slang for Arse.

I know an Aris and that never crossed my mind but it's a valid point.

With the e on the end it's a commonly found name in Holland where it's often short for Adrianus.

I know one who lives in uk and he does get Arry and occasionally Air-ee but it's pronounced R E.

My neighbours have a lovely black lab called Ari They pronounce it Are-ee.

If I saw it written, I would pronounce it to rhyme with hurry, but if I heard it said, I would try my best to imitate the correct pronunciation.

I'd assume Ari but if you told me Ahree I'd pronounce it like that. Can't account for the kids and teachers tho or the rest of his life. But that's life. Lots of people have to clarify the pronunciation esp on such a culturally diverse country. Use it if you love it

I think Arry like Harry without the H just sounds cockney and will cause confusion if he is actually called Harry...
