Sibling for Erin

Hoping all you wise baby name experts can help us with some ideas.

DD1 (2yrs) is Erin. We picked this after much indecision. I loved that it was two-syllables and didn't end in an "ie/ey/ee" or "a" sound. A lovely strong consonant at the end. All four of DH's grandparents were Irish and he liked the link to his heritage. In case relevant, we live in the UK and have no plans to move to Ireland.

DC2 is due in April. We are set for a boys name but struggling for if this baby is another girl.

I quite like Maeve, but one of DD1's nursery friends has just had a baby sibling called Maeve and it does seem very popular at the moment. I also quite like Bridget, but DH can't get past the Bridget Jones' Diary connection.🙈But I wouldn't say I'm particularly enthused by either.

I'm sure there must be lots of other names out there that would sound lovely with Erin (not necessarily with an Irish link), but just massively lacking in inspiration at the minute.

Please help! 😅

A PP has listed this already but if you loved Aoife then Fiadh would be a lovely alternative. Pronounced Fee-a.

Erin & Fiadh.

Adelaide-Addy for short.

KirstenBlest · 09/01/2024 12:11

Harriet or Verity.

Maeve is a bit too close to the Eve type names and the Mia/Maya/Mabel type names

I love Niamh. Also Alice (I know some people think that's too girly but all the Alices I've known have been totally kick arse haha). My friend has a Rowan which I love (but maybe too close to Erin). Others I love are Meredith, Adelaide, Jocelyn, Imogen and Madeleine.

If you want to go the Irish name route some of my closest friends are Orla, Saoirse, Caoimhe, Cara and Mairead, so i love those names as I associate them with excellent people. No idea how these are perceived now in Ireland as we're all late 30s now haha (and I'm not Irish!)

Yes yes yes! I won't be having a DD but if I did this would be my number one choice.

Great choice of name for your DD.

My DD2 is Erin Elizabeth and DD1 is Imogen Grace.

Other girls names we liked were
Georgia and Harriet.

Good luck in choosing.
