Does anyone else have a name that, when given, was way ahead of its time?

I'm in my early 50s and my parents called me Lily Grace Surname

Now I know there's loads of Lily's and Graces's going way back when , but people are genuinely surprised when I meet up with them for meetings in person after emails (work related of course!) and I'm not 19!

I was an absolute anomaly in the 70s with all my friends who were Sarah, Louise , Claire and Julie

Anyone else?

My brother did. I won't tell you what it was because it's so very unusual for a guy in his 50s, but 30 years later it was quite fashionable. Think something like Calum or Rhys (it's not either of those) - people would have been vaguely aware of its existence when he was young, but most people wouldn't have met one, and would definitely have thought of it as being mainly for people from one specific part of the UK. The funny thing was that when he was a kid he sometimes said he wished he was called Shane - quite mainstream at the time, but another 30 years earlier it would have had quite similar connotations.

I know a kid called Clive who was born in 2003 and he's still way ahead of his time 😂 !

My daughter is 40 and called Freyja ( silent j and the correct viking spelling). No one had ever heard of it then ... and we were always asked where it came from and how we choose it.Her Dad was into Viking history and a Magnus Magnuson fan. Then we saw a Statue of the Goddess Freyja in York museum.
Now it's become popular in the last 15 years.. usually spelt Freya.( My MN name is also a Viking name).

My son is Oliver. Very unusual 37 years ago.

I'm an Olivia aged 30.

@Moier I know a 50 year old Freyja. She is the only one I know who spells it that way. Her mother has a great name which is more unusual than Freyja!

I’m an Abigail, born late 80s. I know it’s a fairly common name, yet I’ve only ever met one other and she was 4, which surprised me! I thought we were all 80s babies 🤷🏼‍♀️

No! I know a 86 year old Abigail! And I knew an older lady wh was in her 70’s called Karen

He’s the same age as me and there were lots of Oliver’s at my school and I knew of others out of school.

Dh knew a Kerry (male). Must be 50 odd now.

I was at school with 2 - in their 60s now.

Also male Vivian.

My name will never make a comeback now, for a very obvious reason.

I know a Sharon in her 20s. Also a 40 year old Nancy, Annette and Jemima.

My great aunt would have been born about 130 years ago. She was called Kirsty.
