Just that really. She will be a younger sister to Arthur and Oscar.

Also bucking the trend and voting for Greta - it’s DD’s name and we love it. We knew when we chose it that it was a marmite name and that some people find it somewhat harsh-sounding, but we didn’t want an obviously ‘pretty’/frilly name and we like its strength, the fact it travels well, and how it’s underused but straightforward to say and spell. No regrets.

It’s a nice list but of the others I think Anna would be my pick - elegant, genuinely classic and again travels well. Emma is fine but a little bland, I can’t warm to the ‘knee’ sound in Nina and Clara is lovely but becoming ubiquitous where I am - it seems to be a bit of a default choice for middle class families looking for an underused classic - to the point that it’s definitely no longer underused (I know five under five)!

I’d go with Clara or Emma.
Anna is lovely too but I think having 2 A initials and 1 O in your sibset would be a bit odd

Greta just gives instant connotations of Greta Thunburg, even without that not a fan at all. Very old lady in a bad way
Don’t like Nina, again quite middle aged vibes.

  1. Greta
  2. Nina
  3. Anna
  4. Clara
  5. Emma

I can see Greta is a bit of a marmite choice but personally I love it.

MerryChristmasToYou · 23/12/2023 11:56

Emma - love
Anna - like a lot
Greta - like
Nina - like
Clara- don't like

Which sounds best with the surname?

peaceinourtime · 23/12/2023 15:21

Greta

whenindoubtgotothelibrary · 23/12/2023 18:09

Clara and Anna are both lovely classic names. For full disclosure, dd has one of them, and I'd have chosen the other if I'd had another girl!

Previousreligion · 23/12/2023 19:12

I like Greta, Nina and Clara the best. I agree with a pp that Anna and Emma sound too vowelly and indistinct with Arthur and Oscar. Tbh I like Clare more, as the ending is more distinct too.

lavenderjump · 23/12/2023 21:28

Clara!

Olika · 23/12/2023 21:29

Don't like Greta or Clara at all. Other options are great.

SusanKennedyshouldLTB · 23/12/2023 21:31

Greta or Clara

Partypop · 23/12/2023 21:32

Anything but Greta and my favourites are Nina and Clara.

Einevinefine · 23/12/2023 21:39

Anna and Nina are great names imo.

Other suggestion: Hannah

The kids will obviously separate as they leave home so personally wouldn’t try and make a girl name “fit” the boys. Just a thought.

Mintygoodness · 23/12/2023 21:40

Greta but a country mile.

Anna as a distant second.

Mintygoodness · 23/12/2023 21:45

Although I seem to be two decades ahead with name choice so maybe should be ignored.
I have a Raphaela who is 23 and loves her name but have only seen it surface on MN in the past 5 years.
I'm sure if I had asked for feedback in 2000 I would have been shot down.
So if you love a name use it and try not to take MN opinions too seriously.

wasanneofcleves · 23/12/2023 21:45

I would go for Clara. I think it fits best with your sons' names and isn't too old fashioned (I consider Emma and Anna to be a bit 80s and old school sorry!).

Happy2024 · 23/12/2023 21:50

Love all of your names except Greta.

Emma, Anna and Clara are 3 of my favourite names.

Nina is a name I’ve recently started liking a lot too

TempsPerdu · 23/12/2023 21:59

Actually OP I think I’ve changed my mind re both Greta and Anna - having read people's replies I think Greta, while obviously still my favourite, is a bit more of a statement choice, and possibly a bit too edgy and controversial next to Arthur and Oscar, both of which are lovely but very ‘safe’ names. I suspect you’d spend a fair bit of time explaining ‘Why Greta?’ to people. And I agree with pps that Anna sounds too vowelly when put alongside the other two (Emma similar issue but less so I think).

So I think Clara would probably be my revised choice - it’s less vowel-heavy and classic but popular, like your other DCs’ names, so would fit well as a sibset.

Names are a minefield aren’t they?!

Soozikinzii · 23/12/2023 22:07

My DGD is called Nina, she is 4 now and it's such a cosmopolitan name I think it's lovely.

WhimsicalMoth · 23/12/2023 22:08

Nina. It's a lovely name.

booni13 · 23/12/2023 22:16

I think Emma probably goes best with the boys names but I LOVE the name Nina. Gutted I didn't call one of mine Nina!

Mailys · 23/12/2023 22:25

Clara
Anna
Like Greta but prefer Gretel

SemperIdem · 23/12/2023 22:26

I really dislike Anna.

All the others are lovely though.

howcouldiknow · 24/12/2023 12:58

Such a lovely list! I adore Nina but I love the others too, including Greta.

May I suggest Edith? Such a great name and goes so well with Arthur and Oscar.

LaraFluffyBunny36 · 24/12/2023 14:24

Clara

Mirrormeback · 24/12/2023 14:39

I like them all but Emma is my favourite
