Casper for DC3 - what do you think?

I am pregnant with DC3 and we both love the name Casper - what do you all think? Obviously we know the friendly ghost! But is it too friendly ghost? We are having a really hard time thinking of another name we like as much!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I think Casper is a great name!

And I don't connect it to the friendly ghost (I am not from an English speaking country, though).

Lifeinlists · 22/12/2023 23:51

It's fine but I prefer spelling it Caspar.

User6761 · 22/12/2023 23:53

I also prefer the spelling Caspar, and like Cass as a nickname.

AreYouReallyOkay · 22/12/2023 23:55

I think it's awful. Even without the friendly ghost, although that alone would put me off.

DramaAlpaca · 22/12/2023 23:56

I like it, and I prefer the Casper spelling.

ouch44 · 23/12/2023 00:01

I think it's a great name. I've never though of the ghost name whenever I see the tennis player Casper Ruud! Just what a great name

HorseyMum346 · 23/12/2023 00:18

I can’t hear it without thinking of the ghost! It’s a dog name to me

Olika · 23/12/2023 00:24

I like it.

LadyGAgain · 23/12/2023 00:49

Love it.
Agree Caspar or Kaspar

ughChristmas · 23/12/2023 01:15

I like it.

Sintel · 23/12/2023 01:15

Nope. Caspar is a ghost. Jasper?

wheniswinterover · 23/12/2023 01:19

Yes, a friendly one

user1492757084 · 23/12/2023 01:51

Casper or Caspar are both adorable.
I've met a few Scandinavian Caspers.
Usually Cass or Cas... all lovely.

Joystir59 · 23/12/2023 02:42

Great for a dog

Joystir59 · 23/12/2023 02:42

Or a ghost

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 23/12/2023 03:01

I have a relative called Caspar. He’s invariably called Cas.

46mumof6 · 23/12/2023 03:19

Love it wanted to call my 1st Casper but everyone kept saying the friendly ghost, wish I hadn't listened to them and used the name

Celia24 · 23/12/2023 03:19

My OH is Kaspar. I got the friendly ghost joke relentlessly at first...

But he's Scandinavian, so he didn't grow up with it at least!

BCBird · 23/12/2023 03:24

Know one Kasper- Polish nationality. Still.makes me think.friemdly ghost though🙄

Amdone123 · 23/12/2023 04:13

I like it, too. It's refreshing.
My first thought was Casper Rudd, too.

piscofrisco · 23/12/2023 04:54

Love it.
Also Balthazar if you wanted to go along that theme. Melchior not so much!

oakleaffy · 23/12/2023 05:02

HorseyMum346 · 23/12/2023 00:18

I can’t hear it without thinking of the ghost! It’s a dog name to me

Ditto Ghost and Dog

A spaniel name!

But all names have associations.

redteapot · 23/12/2023 05:13

I love it! I have taught a Kacper (Polish) and thought it was a great name. As far as I'm aware, the friendly ghost is not well known amongst children nowadays so it wouldn't be a 'thing' amongst his peers.

PermanentTemporary · 23/12/2023 05:17

I know a Caspar, doing A levels now, awesome child. Great name.

RosesAndHellebores · 23/12/2023 05:25

It's DS's third name. Because he was born on Christmas Day. Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar were the three wise men.
