I am so stuck. I have girls' names galore, please give me nice slightly arty boys' names that won't get hugely popular in a year or two

I've met a little boy called Archer and I 've seen it in a name book. I love it, a bit cooler than Archie I think.

wheresthehamster · 15/03/2008 21:12

Chay Blythe the yachtsman. Sometimes spelt Shay

FrannyandZooey · 15/03/2008 21:12

Walnutshell those are really unusual, I haven't heard of any of them before
I don't think I would use a name I hadn't previously heard of

I named my little one chay as it's very interesting and different even tho' a lot of people call him SHAY! (which really gets to me)

FrannyandZooey · 15/03/2008 21:13

i know a shay-lovely name!

nellyraggbagg · 15/03/2008 21:13

I have a Felix, and he is the only one in his prep school. We have met a few since he was born, but it's not desperately popular.

I had on my list (all vetoed by unimaginative DH):

Augustus
Orlando
Milo (until someone told me there's a Tweenie called Milo)
Hamish (which I love)
Hector (ditto)
Humphrey (ditto)
Lysander

Felix was the only one that DH agreed with!! (Though I do love it...)

There are lots of Sebastians, Daniels, Sams and Harrys at DS's school. I know a Mungo, but he's in his 30s. Dante is great!

StripeyMama · 15/03/2008 21:14

Or you could follow the lead of some travellers my mate knows and call him "Boy"

Followed eight years later by "Newboy"

Yes, really.

fishie · 15/03/2008 21:14

i do love conrad. but maybe you are after more frenchified stuff? plenty of fodder there. i do sympthaise, girls names are much easier. lawrence is delightful too.

in the end we limited our choice, no foreign names (we are mainly english) but none of that anglo saxon 'stick' nonsense. ds is called merlin, like the little falcon. (or the welsh wizard but we mainly do not dwell on that).

pointedegg · 15/03/2008 21:14

(I was looking at Nat and Kit - I am way behind)

FrannyandZooey · 15/03/2008 21:14

I don't want to say girls names as we may well use them
I am secretive like that

hey Malory how come you are MT again and not MV?

Tutter · 15/03/2008 21:14
