I am so stuck. I have girls' names galore, please give me nice slightly arty boys' names that won't get hugely popular in a year or two

i was mis-remembering, you have a d i'd forgotten about. but all the same i think his nickname would be arrow by secondary school. not a bad nickname, though...

what thinkest thou of vincent? or francis? i think they're such nice names, and as you know i've aways been fond of frank.

pointedegg · 15/03/2008 21:42

Shirley
Marion

Aitch · 15/03/2008 21:43

lol pointy.

FrannyandZooey · 15/03/2008 21:43

LOL we thought it was along those lines aitch

I don't mind francis

maybe

OP posts:
pointedegg · 15/03/2008 21:43

Oh yes, Vincent.

Aitch · 15/03/2008 21:44

and a lovely tribute to your mn name, frank.

StripeyMama · 15/03/2008 21:44

Lorien

dilbertina · 15/03/2008 21:45

since got name book out anyway...

Marmaduke? no maybe not

Fergus?
oooh, I really like fergus (i think...) Fergie...gus....

pointedegg · 15/03/2008 21:45

But you can't name your baby after a poster name on mumsnet

FrannyandZooey · 15/03/2008 21:45

heh
I would do Zachary for a tribute, maybe
I think a Frank and a Franny could get confusing

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 15/03/2008 21:45

lorien is nice

OP posts:
pointedegg · 15/03/2008 21:46

Why are so many of them girls' names

winestein · 15/03/2008 21:46

I got distracted so this post is in response to one a billion ago.

FRANNY - yes - I know exactly what you mean about context. We decided DS's name without seeing it in "the book" although it is in there. (DS's name is my contribution to your thread)

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 15/03/2008 21:47

not keen on Gus names - gusset connotations

do love Lucien - Florian not so keen

Lucien Francis sounds - and looks - great

dilbertina · 15/03/2008 21:47

what about Nico?

Aitch · 15/03/2008 21:48

don't be scared, you clearly love the name. ignore pointy, go with francis, it's a kind person's name.

or what about Manny? as in shinwell? v cool.
or Keir, or Aneurin if we're on the Labour movement.

LarryVeest · 15/03/2008 21:48

Lysander

Aitch · 15/03/2008 21:49

lorien is a ridiculous name, surely?

what about laurie? lovely. and he's very good in House.
