Second name for Eleanor

Hi!

Struggling to decide on second name for our daughter.

She’ll have three names (family tradition) and whilst first and third are set, the second I’m still trying to find the best flow for. I’d like it to be a bit modern / fun as the others are quite traditional, and perhaps for it to be a bit shorter for flow?

currently on

Eleanor Lily Margaux

or Eleanor Olivia Margaux

her nn will be Ella

any other suggestions for the middle name that flow well?

suggestions welcome!

I like Lily. I think something shorter and simpler with a longer first name like that.

GoodVibesHere · 16/12/2023 07:14

I would swap those middle names around, i.e. Eleanor Margaux Olivia.

Another idea for a middle name that springs to my mind is Grace.

Eleanor Lily Margaux is beautiful 💕

RosesAndHellebores · 16/12/2023 12:26

I think Eleanor Margaux is quite enough.

If you have to, something simple: Jane, Rose, Grace. Too many l's with Lily.

Emelene · 16/12/2023 12:28

I really like the name Eleanor Grace - it’s my sisters name but it’s timeless and beautiful!

otherwise Eleanor Lily Margeaux is lovely x

jadey1991 · 16/12/2023 12:29

Eleanor may

CremeEggThief · 16/12/2023 12:30

I agree that Eleanor Margot is enough. I don't think you need 3 names and I think both Lily and Olivia don't flow well with Eleanor.

Mudflaps · 16/12/2023 12:31

Rigby (sorry, it always pops into my mind when I hear the name Eleanor). Lily is my favourite name, it was my Grandmother's name and if I'd had a daughter I'd have used it but maybe I'll be lucky enough to have a grand daughter some day and it might get used then.

iljafjpr · 16/12/2023 12:36

Eleanor Rose Margaux

HuntingoftheSnark · 16/12/2023 12:42

Eleanor Fay

ScruffMuffin · 16/12/2023 13:04

I wouldn't use Lily or Olivia. Too many Ls.
I like Eleanor Daisy Margaux.

MaloneMeadow · 16/12/2023 14:05

I think that Eleanor Margaux is lovely and enough - any of the super common Lily/Grace names etc just ruin it

aintnospringchicken · 16/12/2023 14:39

Eleanor Joy
Eleanor Kate
Eleanor Jayne
Eleanor Faye

khaa2091 · 16/12/2023 14:44

I have an Eleanor Loveday Stephanie, but the only people who call her Eleanor are NHS!

Perhapsanorhertimewouldbebetter · 16/12/2023 14:45

Is Margaux just a fancier spelling of Margot/Margo, or actual different name? If it's the same name then I'd spell it Margo tbh.

DuchessOfSausage · 16/12/2023 15:37

Margaux as a name is horrible but slightly better than Chardonnay

HoHoHoliday · 16/12/2023 15:44

Some other suggestions, I think a one-syllable name works well between your two choices,

Eleanor Liv Margaux
Eleanor Eve Margaux
Eleanor Faye Margaux
Eleanor Ash Margaux
Eleanor Lark Margaux

Ladyofthelake53 · 16/12/2023 15:55

Im Eleanor, no middle name though but some people call me Nell which i like

WashItTomorrow · 16/12/2023 15:58

Not Lily or Olivia. Both have too many Ls. Both are quite traditional, so don’t seem to fit the “fun and more modern” you wanted.

Fern.
Pippa.
Romy.
Tara.
Ruby.

DutchIrishLondoner · 17/12/2023 08:26

Thanks for all the suggestions!

@WashItTomorrow not Ruby. Ruby with Margaux. Red Ruby and a glass of Margaux.

OopsieeDaisy · 17/12/2023 10:20

Agree with others that have said Eleanor Margaux is nice as it is, no need to add any more names!

theduchessofspork · 18/12/2023 21:04

Eleanor Margot is nice

Or Eleanor Marguerite?

I don’t think Lily really goes.

I wouldn’t use the Margaux spelling as it’s the wine region - it does get used in France but by the sort of people who might call their daughter Chardonnay or Vogue here
