I was bullied relentlessly and not for my name.
But, my surname was made into a word because I was already disliked. I also was one of several of the same name so I got a horrible prefix. Eg. Big nose Lucy, Ugly Sarah etc.
At secondary school I witnessed other children's first names used in a similar way.
Harvey Wallbanger, morphed into headbanger implying he was thick
Donna Kebab, morphed into jokes about slicing off meat as she was 'fat'.
But to be honest if teens (and possibly older primary) are going to be mean they will either use existing name or just make one up. There was a girl the bullies Christened pig in a wig and she wasn't a Charlotte or Amy other piggy name. They were just twats.
For my own peace of mind I wouldn't give a child a so obviously going to be bastardised name such as that one letter from an unpleasant word or an obvious connotation.
I chose a name out of the top 100 so I hope the adjectives+ name issue won't be a problem but if and when bullying happens it could centre on having a more uncommon name.
My take is don't chose a name you couldn't pull off yourself and pick one for all stages of life.
I'd agree ks1 children are blase about names but by ks2 the nastiness creeps in across all aspects.
