I guess it'll be June, Marlene, Queenie, Malcolm, Alan, Patricia.......

...and we'll love them and think they're sooooo cute.

i knew a very sweet, vulnerable looking boy at school called Gerald. me and my friend Karen sort of adopted him. his blazer didn't fit him (way too large) and his trouser hems were held up with staples..

Ah you see I think Audrey and Irene aren't bad names at all so that's funny. I wouldn't particularly use them but I can see them being hugely fashionable in a few years, especially Audrey...

lol about the staples bundle. I used to staple up my lovely a-line heavy tweed school uniform skirt and the staples would rip the skin behind my knees at odd moments. strangely I found this preferable to getting out a needle and thread and spending 2 minutes sewing it up...

PrincessPeaHead · 13/03/2008 11:32

cadelaide - we call my dd2 Reenie! Her name isn't Irene though. It just sort of happened. We call her "Teeny Weeny Reenie" as a joke and she thinks it is hilarious (she is just 2)

sigh pph

i wonder where gerald is now...

tortoiseSHELL · 13/03/2008 11:34

I actually really like Audrey, Phyllis and Joyce. Audrey is timeless, Phyllis is from the Railway Children, and Joyce is what Anne of Green Gables called her first baby who died shortly after birth. Love them all!

How did I miss THAT?

bundle · 13/03/2008 11:38

me too olivia

what about Colin, Marjorie, Ralph

tortoiseSHELL · 13/03/2008 11:38

She had baby Joyce and then Jem in Anne's House of Dreams, and then by Anne of Ingleside she has 5 children (or 6 if you count little Joyce, which she does!). In Anne of Ingleside she then has one more (baby Marilla, Rilla for short), taking it up to 6!

alarkaspree · 13/03/2008 11:39

Anne's House of Dreams (?)

I wanted to call dd Audrey, but everyone thought I was mad.

Anna8888 · 13/03/2008 11:42

One of my partner's third cousins (so French Jewish) called her adoptive Russian daughter Eileen (2002) ... having previously called her son Dorian (1992) .

And the (French again) sister of a former colleague called her children Geoffrey (1995) and Audrey (1998).

cadelaide · 13/03/2008 11:42

Audrey is pretty isn't it?

See, told you, these names'll be all over the place in...oooooh....7 years time.

Anne's children;

Joyce

Jem (James Matthew)
Walter Cuthbert
Anne (Nan) and Diana - twins
Shirley (boy)
Bertha Marilla (Rilla)

margoandjerry · 13/03/2008 11:44

Colin, Nigel, Keith

Susan, Sheila, Janice

cadelaide · 13/03/2008 11:45

Marjorie.
Another good one bundle, you don't get any babies called marjorie do you?

Marje.

I think there will be a backlash against all names ending in "ie".

OP posts:
bundle · 13/03/2008 11:45

Bertha is quite tricky

love Marilla though

cadelaide · 13/03/2008 11:46

Walter Cuthbert.

Blimey.

Aren't they both Beano Softees?

I think Audrey is influenced by Audrey Tautou (the actress who played Amélie).
