Just wondering what the general consensus here is for the name Sean? Our surname is very very similar to Keegan so we need something that doesn't have too many 'e's or 'n's otherwise it sounds really silly.

Dh likes Liam but I don't think it sounds right against the surname and I lurve Daniel but DH doesn't.

We're not going for trendy or made up names either so if you have any traditional suggestions for our boy, we would be really grateful!

Sean is ok.

Sean is lovely, also similar are Shane and Oisin, if you like Irishy ones.

I like Cian but if it's too eee-y and nnn-y you could have Cuan, traditional Irish.

MrsBadger · 13/03/2008 08:43

John?
James? (my favourite boy's name and one I recommend without hesitation on every possible occasion)

seeker · 13/03/2008 08:43

I like Sean. Or if you want traditional, why not use the English version - John? My ds's best friend is called John and it's really nice and easy.

moopymoo · 13/03/2008 08:46

seeker · 13/03/2008 08:51

Patrick?

No19 · 13/03/2008 08:52

Sean is v v trad!

belgo · 13/03/2008 08:52

what about Oran(sp?) I think that's also a traditional Irish boy's name?

belgo · 13/03/2008 08:53

Yes Sean is very traditional Irish!

2sugarsagain · 13/03/2008 08:53

Sean sounds fine to me. But I luuuurve Fergus/Feargus.

No19 · 13/03/2008 08:53

With a fada on the a.

Botbot · 13/03/2008 08:54

Sean was v popular when I was little (70s) - there were lots of them in my school. But it's quite a nice name really - don't see why it shouldn't come back into fashion.

No19 · 13/03/2008 08:56

Or Seamus (James) - Shay-muss

Weeteeny · 13/03/2008 08:56

I have a Sean and a Daniel, you have good taste!

seeker · 13/03/2008 08:59

If we're talking Irish names, is it time Michael came back? I think it's lovely!

Hulababy · 13/03/2008 09:07

Are you wanting Irish names, or just traditional names?

Lazylou · 13/03/2008 12:10

Not really bothered about the Irish thing in particular, it was just a name I suggested because it went quite well with the surname and doesn't seem to be too popular around here. I also like James, but we have too many family members with the same name.

Finding boys names much harder to think about than girls. It was easier first time round!

Thanks for the opinions so far!
