Morning all, I heard of the name Chez for the first name yesterday, I had never heard of it before. Is it a real name or is it a shorting of a name?
Please advise 😊

Chez was a nickname for Cheryl when I was at school. Like Shaz for Sharon.

Or Shell for Michelle

I knew a Chez. She was a border collie. Apparently it was short for 'bitchez'. (The owner was a retired Rev Dr medical missionary not a rapper)

This is hilarious 😂

What has their being Mexican got to do with it? ‘Cherokee’ is not a Mexican name.

It's a Native American name and very popular in Mexico.

I know a male Chez, its Polish - I think possibly a shortening. Pronouced with a Ch and in Chesney, rather than Sh in French Chez.

It's a Native American name and very popular in Mexico.

Cherokee is the name of a tribal group . Not a personal name. Indigenous to parts of North Carolina and Tennessee. I've never heard of it as a Mexican name which either have a Spanish or Nahuatl influence.

The fact you don't know this is neither here nor there really.

April, May and June are all months of the year but it doesn't stop people naming their kids.

I'm not sure her Mexican family would agree.

As I said and still stand by "Poor kid".

I am sure her parents like her name, the same way the parents of Waynes and Balonzs like the names they chose and I would think Poor Kid then too.

🤷‍♀️

I guess this may fall into a cultural appropriation rabbit hole now.
