4th girl name-Stella, Ella, Poppy or Ivy

We have just had our 4th girl. All very close in age(under 5). Zara, Olivia, Rosie are their names so looking for a nice match that goes well with these. We also had Sienna & Victoria on the list but have removed them due to their length, going to stick with a 2 syllable name. Mia & Hazel I also quite like but my husbands not wild on them so it’s between Stella(my husbands least fave), Ella, Poppy or Ivy

Of those names I prefer Poppy (one of my names if I ever get pregnant!). I do agree that Poppy and Ivy are not fantastic with Rosie though.

Ella is a popular choice and I like it too. Appreciate what you say about it being mixed up with Ellie. Have you considered Eleanor (my other future DD name choice). I know it’s not two syllables BUT you could shorten it to Ella or Nora and I think Nora goes well with your other names.

Congratulations on so many lovely daughters!

Stella then Poppy.

SneezyEvie · 18/11/2023 06:50

My favourite is Sienna. You say it so fast, it sounds like a 2 syllable name and it flows so well with the others.

Mothership4two · 18/11/2023 06:55

Like Stella and Ella. Poppy is OK. Not keen on Ivy especially as it is family member's name and she always hated it - she has a birthday around Christmas.

Clare2023 · 18/11/2023 23:33

mmm maybe we shouldn’t have disgarded Sienna. It is a pretty name.
I wasn’t sure if it worked well with the names I have? I also don’t think the other kids will be able to pronounce it, but I don’t mind the shortening to SISi anyway.
it seems like a marmite name. A lot of ppl seem to think it’s awful!!😂

I don’t like any of these, except Stella.

WhyMeWhyNowWhyNot · 18/11/2023 23:38

Poppy is so twee - great on a toddler but not so great on a grown woman.

Ella is my favourite but it is very common.

As PP said, Isla is lovely as an alternative 😊

Mothership4two · 19/11/2023 04:45

Isla is pretty and Sienna is OK

Theoldwoman · 19/11/2023 05:18

Zara, Olivia, Rosie and Ella !

mathanxiety · 19/11/2023 05:36

I think Stella goes best with the other names.

mathanxiety · 19/11/2023 05:40

I like Sienna too, and Ella would go pretty well with the other names

Poppy and Ivy are too matchy with Rosie (too botanical).

MissedItByThisMuch · 19/11/2023 05:47

Ella is meh to me, and too popular for my taste. I like Stella, but if DH doesn’t I’d eliminate. That leaves Poppy and Ivy which are both lovely (don’t understand why people are saying they don’t work with Rosie). Of the two I would probably go with Ivy, particularly if you want a “stronger” sounding name.

MissedItByThisMuch · 19/11/2023 05:50

I see Sienna is back in play so I’ll give my opinion on that too - I dislike it! Still Ivy for me. Why is another plant name an issue? And if the name is actually “Rosie” technically that’s not a plant anyway.

DesertSnow · 19/11/2023 17:11

I think Poppy goes the best with the other names

Goodornot · 19/11/2023 17:12

Ella is a bit boring. There'll be so many variations of it Ellie, etc.

I like Ivy.

Clare2023 · 21/11/2023 08:55

We have wittled it down to Ella Victoria or Stella Grace
officially registering her tomorrow so the pressure is on! We are torn between the 2!!

Ella Victoria
Bit of a classic vibe

Definitely Ella from the two! X

uncomfortablydumb53 · 21/11/2023 13:32

Ella Victoria is lovely

Feliciacat · 21/11/2023 13:45

Ella Victoria is better sounding and somehow more classic (in my opinion) than Stella Grace. Then again, Stella Grace has a very cool meaning! Like celestial grace, that’s really appealing.

DiaNaranja · 21/11/2023 14:00

I think Ella is nicest on your list. Why about Penny? Or Eliza, Hattie, Bonnie, Thea, Tamzin?

Oh sorry, just saw the update, I'd go with Ella as you said your husband wasn't as keen on Stella

cordelia16 · 21/11/2023 20:27

I love Ella Victoria

I also like the symmetry of two girls with starting consonants and two with vowels :)

(And I know it's not a huge factor, but when you say the 4 names together, Rosie and Stella run into each other. "My daughters are Zara, Olivia, Rosie, Stella"). Just trying to find ways for you to pick between the two lol

Birdsongsinging · 22/11/2023 00:23

I prefer Stella. I like Ella but it is just far too popular.

OliviaFlaversham · 22/11/2023 00:30

Ella. It’s more popular than Stella because it is a far nicer name. Stella Grace doesn’t sound nearly as nice as Ella Victoria.

plus Stella Artois is too current to distance from.
