Irish or Scottish Boy Names

AnonymousArmadillo · 22/10/2023 06:17

We found out yesterday that DC3 is a boy! 🥰🥰 We have two DDs and knew what their names were straight away.

DH’s family are Irish and my dad’s family are Scottish so a name with either of those heritages would be lovely. I’m not too fussed for matching names but DDs are Kara and Aoife so don’t want a name that seems bizarre next to those. We have a two-syllable Irish surname starting with a hard C sound.

Names I like:
Rory
Theodore
Cameron - not sure on the CC initials
Luca
Quinn

DH likes:
Theodore
Darragh - I worry this sounds too similar to Kara
Harrison - really not keen on this

We both like Theodore but I know it’s incredibly popular at the moment. Also just not sure it ‘fits’ with our DDs’ names.

What other names might I like?

I’ve added Cian and Archie to my list.

Some other great names on here that we unfortunately can’t use because we have close family/friends with those names.

That’s ok. We don’t live in Scotland so unlikely to be an issue.

Michael.... Fits in just about everywhere. You could convert it to The Irish/Gaelic spelling if you wanted to

It really doesn't down south.

This is a family name for my DH but I’m really not keen. It’s handed down via the eldest son’s and DH isn’t the eldest son so I have dodged that bullet.
