Jack - just too popular?

I know it's been top of the most popular names for years, but the only Jack I know is 90 years old. Are there really so many Jacks out there? Perhaps those of you with babies/school age children will know...

thanks!

My 10 year old son has been surrounded by Jacks at school, Jack D Jack C etc etcI am not a fan and also feel that it is a diminutive of John and that should be their proper name with jack as a pet form but nearly all of them registered as Jack. Also interested to see Finlay which I feel is a very Scottish and previously unusual name now ten a penny throughout the country often now spelt Finley which is definitely wrong.

I only know one Jack and he's about 12. Joshua, Dylan/Dillon, Oliver, Jake, Alfie, Connor all seem v common in these here parts (north London)

I only know 2 Jacks. Which is odd as its been top of the list for so long. There were none in my sons nursery or school year (60 kids)

You should give your child the name you love. I have a common name and it never bothered me.

my youngest is a Jack (obviously from my MN name lol) but my DP wanted it for my middle son and i refused because my cousins little boy is also a Jack.

I gave in with Jack though seeing as we rarely see my cousin, maybe once or twice a year, probably less than that!)

BUT, i know more Jakes and Joshuas than Jack TBH.
