Hazel: Is it too risky to use a new favourite?

Just wondering. These past days I couldn't stop thinking about Hazel. I love how warm and comforting it sounds and the colours it brings up. We still have a little bit of time left, but overall I'd only have liked the name for a few months before her birth. It feels exciting and wonderful to me now, but I'm wondering if I'll have regrets later for not picking a long-time favourite instead. I guess I could solve this by using a long-time favourite as her middle name and switching if it ends up feeling wrong, but then again you wonder if you should save them for future daughter as first names instead.

So difficult, has anyone gone throught this?

I like Hazel and know a lovely Hazel, but if ever I mention her to my DH he always says she’s nuts and all other nut related puns! It’s in jest though, he hasn’t even meet her!

Hazel was my mother's name. Never met anyone who didn't like it.

It's a gorgeous name. I know a lovely preschooler Hazel and a lovely young adult Hazel and it's a name that's classic and won't ever seem dated

Agree with others that it’s a sign, and I’m not typically one for “oh it’s a sign!” 😂 But sometimes something just clicks.

Hazel is a gorgeous name. Warm, cozy, cute but ages well. It’s top of my list, alongside Zara & Caroline. I also absolutely adore the cutesy nickname of Hazelnut 🥰

I love Hazel , it's easy to pronounce and spell, and always conjures up an image of autumn trees for me
If the name has come to you with a glow, I think
she has chosen her name!
