Middle name for Rupert?

miniworry · 17/09/2023 19:39

We have decided to call our baby Rupert, but want to name him Roo whilst he is younger, but Rupert on his birth certificate gives him the option to use Rupert when he feels he wants to.

Can anyone suggest any middle names that go well with Rupert but also work well for Roo aswell?

That's as offensive as saying Tyler is Chavvy - it isn't and why would you say it?
Rupert is a good name, I like it. In my family we choose family middle names to honour relatives, so for boys we either choose one of their dad's, grandads' first or second names, or one of mother's / grandmothers' maiden names. It worked really well and meant something.

Roo is awful

miniworry · 18/09/2023 12:23

@CallieQ good job it isn't you naming your son it then isn't it. I honestly don't care if you do/don't like it, why do you comment something nasty when all I asked for were some middle name ideas.

Thanks so much to all you lovely ladies who gave us some suggestions! 💙

Same. Its a running joke where we live and where we are from (which is 300 miles away), so I would imagine its a joke name pretty much everywhere. Poor kid!!

Why are people obsessed with having to have a middle name?

SheilaFentiman · 18/09/2023 12:51

Something short - James, George, John

Not Peter, cos you don’t want a Roo Peter!

Why are you calling something that the majority of people do have an obsession?

If you love it, that is all that matters ❤️ and I can think of much worse!

I had similar with my son Gabriel 14 years ago. However we've only ever had compliments on him and his name.

Good luck 😘

SunflowersAndSmellyTrainers · 18/09/2023 12:55

My first thought was Rupert James

I love it

Leavesaregood · 18/09/2023 12:59

Love Rupert. Love Rupert James. Congratulations!

Pjmasksonrepeat · 18/09/2023 13:17

Rupert James is nice but my fav is Rupert Elliot. I think 1 or 3 syllables work well with it.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 18/09/2023 13:20

Rupert Henry was my first thought

I said it because it is true. Thats what people use the name Rupert for around here.
No one says Tyler when they mean chavvy here. The use of the word chav is not common here at all anyway.

I didnt make up the Rupert thing, I shared a fact from my area. You are shooting the messenger and have read this completely wrong. You have read it as to what I associate the name with, when in all honesty my association would be a bear.

However if someone refers to someone as a Rupert where I l live... thats what they mean... thick and posh, stupid and privilaged, out of touch with the real world. That sort of thing.

I have a Ru. (Not roo....thats from Winnie the pooh. )
We love his name. He has a one syllable traditional middle name that's been mentioned.
He was Ru Ru (woowoo) until he was 2 .
