Is Sabrina not classic enough?

I go back and forth on Sabrina, but the past couple of months it has been my favourite.

Now I am worried it is dated? Most Sabrinas would be in the 20s and 30s, I suppose.

On the other hand it is quite old and there are some classic movies that feature Sabrinas.

Other names on the list are more along the lines of Ava and Grace.

It’s a lovely name, much more interesting that Ava and Grace.

ShowOfHands · 10/09/2023 22:58

My great aunt and a couple of other older relatives were called Sabria which is rather pretty and rarely used.

ZenNudist · 10/09/2023 22:59

Serena much nicer

I like it but I prefer just ''Sabine''. Is that a name or did i make it up?

That’s a nice name but it makes me think of “the rape of the Sabine women” statue which is a worse and more enduring association than “Sabrina the teenage witch”! Both good names of themselves though.

I know a Sabina and she says it as Zub-een-uh, She's German

CallieQ · 11/09/2023 00:19

Teenage witch!

Nooooo
Teenage witch!

Such a bad association?

purpleme12 · 11/09/2023 01:04

It's a brilliant association if you ask me

Sabrina is bestout of Ava etc.
How about
Sabrina
Sabine
Serena
Sarah

Sabrina is a great name. I don’t think it’s ever been in or out of fashion particularly, but it has an established history and is a lot more interesting than Grace or Ava.

Louise303 · 11/09/2023 04:35

Beautiful name I love it

scarceiron · 11/09/2023 07:15

It’s very high on my list, OP! (Waiting to find out the sex at the moment). I love that it’s a name that’s recognisable in several countries/languages, unlikely that people would misspell/mispronounce it. Slight niggle on the teenage witch reference, but as others have said it’s likely not something her classmates would be aware of. Go for it!!

merrymelodies · 11/09/2023 07:23

It was my one of my top choices for DD 23 years ago. I loved it. DD loathes the name and is very grateful I chose differently.

SwedishEdith · 11/09/2023 07:34

It's Charlie's Angels or 'Boys, boys, boys' for me. I'm going to have that as my ear worm all day now. I didn't realise it was an old name though.

MotherOfCatBoy · 11/09/2023 21:25

Definitely an old name, pp is right about the River Severn - Roman name for it I think. Plus the Audrey Hepburn reference. Beautiful name, go for it! And yes I remember the Teenage Witch, but it’s not the only reference.

(Tabitha for a sibling, anyone?)

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 11/09/2023 21:31

It's a beautiful and classic name, makes me think of Audrey Hepburn before the teenage witch, but she was cool too
