Are Lily and Lucy too similar to be sibling names?

Dd is a Lily and we are considering naming our second daughter Lucy but I'm concerned they sound/look too similar. Thoughts?

They are lovely together and I don’t think they are too similar at all. Some people don’t like same initial name for children but loads of people do it and both my parents and brother all had same initials and they were fine - I don’t remember there being any mixups with doctors/bank etc.

and if you think about it, there are so many fathers and sons with the same name too.

IMO Lily and Lucy sound like a lovely pair

The reason that there is less likelyhood of a mix up in medical records of a father and son with same name is that the 20/30 years difference in date of birth would act as some kind of safeguard.

I once helped in a school and in a large family there was one brother named Harry and a younger one Henry. The HT confirmed those were their birth certificate names.

I know a family with 6 children & all their names end in 'y' - they do have a lilly & lucy. I don't think those 2 names are too matchy on their own & it would be fine for you to use them

I think so.

Although I do know sisters Lily and Charlotte and they get called Lily and Lottie.
