Hi Girls,

Thought I would distract myself from worrying about the small size of my Bump until I see the midwife tomorrow by asking you your thoughts on these options...

We don't know the sex, so it's Kinder Surprise Also we have a seriously weird 3 syllable surname that starts with T. So we're going for short, punchy names with a max of 2 syllables:

Boy:

Dexter
Fillan
Rowan
Tate

Girl:

Faye
Hazel
Cara
Rose

Fintan or Finbarr, and call him Finn

shubiedoo · 02/03/2008 17:36

Or Ronan, not Rowan

Greensleeves · 02/03/2008 17:46

Felix
Liam
Aran
Jago
Tym an
Rudy
Rufus
Kian

Shock DH has taken great exception to my comment and come up with the following which in the Traditional Manner I don't like that much

FRASER - old man?
HEATH - baaaaaad karma
CAMERON - too common
AARON - possible...
GERARD - old man?
JED - sounds chavvy?
LUKE - pah
LEO - aaaah, Baby Blair
JACOB - possible...but very popular
DALZIEL - pronounced DL apparently. See he's as mad as I am

I LOVE the whole Finn, Finbar thing but we have two sets of good friends, one with a DS called Finn, the other, Flynn

Ned is totally out up here as it means Chav

I like Fraser, it's a nice gentle name and would suit an adult as well as a baby...and it reminds me of "fraise" which means strawberry

JeremyVile · 02/03/2008 17:51

I like every one of those names!

Favourites probably Rowan and Hazel.....

Or maybe Tate and Cara??

Or any of the others??

oxocube · 02/03/2008 17:53

Girls all lovely, don't care for the boys

Rowan is a fab name for a boy (dd2 would have been Rowan if she'd been a boy); I don't like the other boys' names.

Faye is lovely. Hazel and Rose are nice enough but rather too popular. I don't like Cara.

Vulgar · 02/03/2008 18:39

Cara and Tate make me think of potatoes.

Like Rose, Hazel and Rowan -all plant names too

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 02/03/2008 18:52

Rolf · 02/03/2008 18:59

Hi BB. I really like Merric . It has a really nice sound to it, and I like the meaning too.

DH and I have agreed on Jethro or Jethrine

bluenosesaint · 02/03/2008 19:55

Boy:

Dexter - quite like this
Fillan - who?
Rowan - don't like this, can't get the image of Rowan Atkinsons rubbery face out of my mind when i hear it ...
Tate - don't like this

Girl:

Faye - i actually quite like this, but around these parts people often say that something is 'fay' when they think its horrible/foul (??)
Hazel - don't like this
Cara - really like this, very pretty.
Rose - beautiful name and very underused as a 'first' name.

Love Dexter (was on my shortlist but vetoed by DH - think it would go well with DS's name - Devon) also like Tate.

Not too keen on girls names - Rose is best of the four

pointydog · 02/03/2008 20:10

Boy:

Dexter - bit trendy for me but nice sound
Fillan - never heard of it
Rowan - love Rowan (rhymes with cow) for a girl but not for a boy)
Tate - dont like

Girl:

Faye - don;t like
Hazel - hmm, retro, think I like it
Cara - oh yes
Rose - oh yes

Rowlers · 02/03/2008 20:17

Like all the girl names but don't like any of the boys names on the initial list.
I do quite like Merric though.

pootleflump · 02/03/2008 20:19

I like all of them! My least favourites are Faye and Hazel.
