An alternative to Susan?

Hello,

My mum died when I was 16 and her name was Susan, although she always went by her middle name. Similarly, both DH and myself have wonderfully close family friends called Susan who we would like to recognise.

However - neither of us like the name Susan!

Can you think of any alternatives that are similar enough to be worth the effort but also nicer? It would be for a middle name so not often heard.

you should go with susan or lily, not some version of susan. i like the lily-su idea actually. dd has my gran's first name as her middle name. she brought me up. it was also my mum's middle name and it's also MIL's first name. it's not a very nice name really, very old lady ish, but it holds meaning and that's what matters..not fashion.
