The poshest woman I know( old money, Manor House and a horsewoman) had twins and named them Tracey and Helen.
Henrietta
Nigella
Ottilie
Octavia
Araminta
Isabella

The old money families I know tend to be quite understated. These are all from old money families/ landed gentry I know from school/ uni/ work. None would call themself posh but if you want land a Labrador and serious connections these people are the real deal.
Names are quite traditional often biblical. Some mad nicknames though!

Johnathan
Oliver
Edward
Alexander
Felix
James
Richard
Christian

Jane
Anna
Helen
Elizabeth
Jemima
Catherine
Cordelia
Eleanor
Sophie
Georgina
Lucinda

Definitely not posh.

The Liliana I know could not be more posh. Her family are an old English family related to several kings and queens. On the other side, she is related to two different European royal houses.

Aubrey is a posh boy's name

Girls: Charlotte, Sophia, Louisa, Harriet, Elizabeth, Camilla, Sarah, Alexandra

Often with an unrelated nickname

Oops! I don't know how I forgot we were just doing girl's names!

ChristmasCrumpet · 23/08/2023 22:07

Actual old money/aristocracy are called Emma, Alexandra, Jane, Fiona, Frances/Francesca.

People naming their babies, trying to portray an image (and often looking daft because the lives they lead are not aligned with what they hope to project with the name) go with, Ophelia, Ottilie, Araminta etc

DS went to public school, and the old money/seriously wealthy family boys names were things like Johnathan, Will, Henry and Marcus. There were about ten Hugo's, and a Jago all from the other end of the wealth scale. I know there's a minimum level to afford the fees in the first place, but the more pretentious sounding names all came from the least wealthy families. I appreciate wealth doesn't equal class, but you get what I mean.

The poshest women (titles, land etc) I know are named Pia and Emerald. Make of that what you will.

RosesAndHellebores · 23/08/2023 22:18

Poshest, richest woman I have ever met was called Lois.

hopsalong · 23/08/2023 23:10

The poshest people I know wouldn't necessarily have made a birth announcement in the Telegraph.

Their daughters sometimes seem to have nicknames (of the Minty variety) but also often relatively ordinary names:

Jane
Mary
Jessica
Charlotte
Honor
Agnes
Antonia
Rosemary

Newbeginnings90 · 23/08/2023 23:21

That telegraph article is brilliant.

Some absolute crackers there.

arlequin · 23/08/2023 23:21

Loving the Telegraph baby names!

arlequin · 23/08/2023 23:21

Cosina, Jemima

arlequin · 23/08/2023 23:22

Sorry Cosima

XelaM · 23/08/2023 23:24

Just look at the royals

Catherine
Elizabeth
Beatrice
Eugenie
Sarah
Diana
Sophie
Charlotte
Anne
Mary
Margaret

The ‘proper’ royals tend on the whole to have relatively plain names - they don’t distract, they’re not quirky, they’re appropriate in any setting. They’re also not that interesting or exciting but I don’t think that’s a bad thing - you can’t really go wrong with them.

This. I would also add Victoria to the list.

The nicknames can be silly, but the names are usually classic. No one is posher than the Royal family.

DameKatyDenisesClagnuts · 23/08/2023 23:24

Serephina

Moonrising · 23/08/2023 23:25

Camilla
Cordelia

USaYwHatNow · 23/08/2023 23:26

@HeyMicky god that's eye opening, looking at all those announcements 😂 and I know each to their own but, 'Athena Perdita Allegra'?! What a name...

JulianFawcettMP · 23/08/2023 23:31

If you use the word posh then you aren't and no name will change that

Positive41 · 24/08/2023 00:13

The names you think are posh make me cringe!

MrsSkylerWhite · 24/08/2023 00:16

Caroline
Octavia
Dido

StandingMyGround888 · 24/08/2023 01:08

You've the truly posh and dull who name their children Catherine and Emily.
Then you've the eccentrics who name their children Fuchsia and Isis.
Then you've those abroad who name their children after a Zambian mountain but usually last so you might have James, Emily, Catherine (Kitty) and Inyangani.

drunkpeacock · 24/08/2023 01:12

Ok I once knew a very posh family with four girls called:
Ariadné, Gabriella, Grace and Camille.
