Non L girls names

Hi, first time poster, hope you can help!

Currently expecting first baby (yay) and kind of stuck on names

If he's a boy we're sorted: we both have a personal connection to the name Brody and agree that it just "fits" (although debating whether it should be spelled Brodie...but that's a conversation for another day 😄) but girls names, we're stuck on. My favourite is Lyra, I also like Lola and Luna...in short, ALL L names and baby's last name will start with an L so they just don't sound right

We've discussed Brodie for a girl too but I'm not sure - I have a typically male name but with a female spelling and I hated it growing up, I worry she'd feel the same (although I have grown to like my name as an adult) thoughts?

There are lots of girls names I do like but they just don't feel right...is that normal, do you think names need a bit of time to "settle in" maybe?

Can any of you think of any in the Lyra/Lola/Luna vibe but without the L?!

Thanks!

I think a double initial can be cool, like Lois Lane so I wouldn't rule out all L names.

Don't use Brodie for a girl unless you're certain you're only having one child. Save it for a potential DS.

Similar names without the L.

Isla
Eden
Sky
Tallulah (could be Lula day to day, but a T initial)
Aria
Bella
Mia/Mya

Thanks guys, I wasn't expecting replies so soon! I get where you're coming from re "saving" Brodie as a name...although I'm in my thirties and partner's in his forties so there's every chance we'll be too knackered with just the one 😄a couple of names mentioned are lovely and have been considered...and after trawling through past discussions here I keep seeing Cora being mentioned and honestly it's one I'd not even thought of before but really like it so I think that's going on the list! I only signed up an hour ago, it's going well 😄

I like L names too, but not with a surname starting with L.

Brody with a Y is nicer, I have a thing for ie names being feminine.

Suggestions:

Cleo
Clara
Zara
Zoe
Jarrah
Saskia
Ella
Claudia
Tara
Karla
Maya
Dana
Julia
Alana
Antonia
Freya
Sarah
Una
Ursula
Erina
Cara
Aaliyah
Nina

MancBizMum · 21/08/2023 11:43

See I think 'ie' is more feminine too, but apparently it's the "proper" way to spell it so I'm not sure...don't think it's too much of a big deal though, it's not like we're going full "Browdeigh" or something 😄

I do really like Ella and Freya but they just don't sound "right" y'know? But they're on the list, thank you 😊

How about Viola or Violet...you still get that lovely 'L' sound quite strongly with both those names, and they are not as popular as the Ellie, Milly, Amelia type 'middle L' sounding names.

recyclemeagain · 21/08/2023 12:31

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I have a Luna, named years ago when it was nowhere near the top 100 so it feels so strange seeing it suddenly popular 😄
I can see where you're coming from with similar style names as we likely have similar tastes.
Names I considered but didn't choose included Coco, Cherry, Iris (which means rainbow), Eden and Katie.

Thea? Cara? Rhea?

JemmaM1982 · 21/08/2023 12:35

We have a Kyra in our family?

Peskytooth · 21/08/2023 12:35

I like the idea of a double L name - it makes them sound like a superhero! Although a little close to a certain serial killer!

Sometimes you can choose a name but then it doesn't fit the baby! My dd1 is not called any of the names I had on my list!

MancBizMum · 23/08/2023 02:17

Loving the suggestions, thank you so much! The list has got longer and a lot of the ones mentioned were already on it so we obviously have ok taste 😄
