Would it be wrong to have a Ruby AND a Millie?

As in the make-up brand?

We have a Millie and love the name Ruby.

Are they too similar and would you have them as siblings dispite the make-up brand? >>>

I suppose it's not like having Laura and Paige, atleast it's a more expensive brand

No no, you are right I just had to read your post a couple of times before I got it. I, on the otherhand have indulged in a few glasses tonight so please forgive me.

dizzydixies · 28/02/2008 22:52

lol princessosyth, am worried that my pg brain is REALLY beginning to take over - very jealous of your vino though

must be living on a different plaine...but Ruby & Millie is the name of a cosmetics line...I didn't even know that....so, to me, Ruby and Millie would be just nicely flowing sibling names...

kateri · 29/02/2008 16:29

Is it me, or is everyone naming their baby Ruby? I've seen dozens lately! It is a nice name, though.

3andnomore · 29/02/2008 16:53

Ruby is quite a common name at the moment...although, I think it's slowly dropping of the topspot to make space for Martha and Matilda

MillieMooMoo · 29/02/2008 18:04

Dizziedixies - You are right lovey!

My 2 yr old dd is called Millie Eve.

I'm expecting #2 so am musing over naming #2 if a girl, Ruby.

Whether a name is common or not doesnt bother us, it has to go nicely with Millie which I think it does, was wondering if the make-up brand made it sound a bit twee

We both like it anyway, so will prob use it regardless, but it's good to hear a lot havent heard of the make-up brand

I considered the name Ruby for my dd3 but i must admit the link to the cosmetics did sway me away from the name - I have a nearly 5 yo Millie

pagwatch · 29/02/2008 22:01

My mums neighbour had a Laura and an Ashley.
When she called them in she sounded like a woman in desperate need of soft furnishings.

pointydog · 29/02/2008 22:07

To op, yes and you know it

sunnydelight · 06/03/2008 08:55

Do you live in Brighton by any chance?

I absolutely love both names, but yes - it probably is a bit much!

belgo · 06/03/2008 08:56

why would Ruby and Millie be too much? Is it really such a popular brand of make-up? i've never heard of it.

Sorry but agree with SEA that 'Millie' isnt really a name. (runs away quickly)

whateverhappened · 07/03/2008 21:27

A friend of a friend has a Sam and an Ella - didn't really think of the Salmonella thing until it was too late!

allgonebellyup · 07/03/2008 21:30

alfie - is Tilly not a real name either??

alfiesbabe · 07/03/2008 21:33

I have taught two sets of brothers called Samuel and Daniel which I thought sounded a bit silly; also brothers called Brendan and Brandon; and have just started to teach the youngest in a family of 4 sisters, Ellie, Millie, Lottie and Callie which I have to be honest sounds like a load of CBeebies characters!!

MillieMummy · 07/03/2008 21:33

I have a Millie (don't understand why it's not a 'real' name), and seriously considered Ruby for baby no 2 - was concerned about the make-up link. No2 was a boy though so didn't have to make a final decision.

alfiesbabe · 07/03/2008 21:33

Tilly is an abbreviation of Matilda.
