I went to school with a girl who had one sister and about 9 brothers, all with names beginning with J (he's not one of them is he?!).

I like Jacob and Julian best.

pinkum · 28/02/2008 20:57

jinn is a very old name and anyway whats wrong with making it up? the trouble is alot of the j names have been taken by other family members. i realy am thinking of mutiny though. noone would care excelt my ds.

CSWS, did the family's surname begin with M? If so, I think I was at college with one of them!

pinkum · 28/02/2008 21:03

i was taking to piss putting j infront of house hold objects, jandle stick, jant pot etc then said jagon, instead of draggon and he likes it, the trouble is he has no taste sometimes.

No BS - very common surname beginning with S.
Surely there can't be so many families who have done the same thing?!?!?

pinkum · 28/02/2008 21:09

uhuh. my dad said it was a meat head idea which i found offensive so now my family dont want it saying it makes them feel like its not to do with them and it makes it even more uncomfertable.

I know a famly in sw London with loads of kids, all with names beginning with J! How many of these families are there, and why J??

dizzydixies · 28/02/2008 21:33

OMG how could we forget

Junior!?!?!? if its good enough for Jordan....

there's another one

jordan

Theresa · 28/02/2008 21:33

Try and go for middle name instead. I used to work with a girl called Judith, her sister was Janice and they both still lived with their parents well into their twenties and post was a nightmare!

Bluestocking · 28/02/2008 21:38

Sorry OP, this doesn't really help you, but I feel a conspiracy coming on - large families where all the children's names begin with J - what could it possibly be about? To save on nametapes? But, as Ernest says, why J? Enquiring MNers need to know. If you are part of a large J family, we want to hear from you now.

mumbear · 28/02/2008 21:54

Have you seen this slightly odd family. They have 16 children all their names start with 'J' take your pick! www.duggarfamily.com/aboutus.html

mumbear · 28/02/2008 21:55

I hope this isnt your husbands family

My mum is one of three S's Shirley, Sheila and Sylvia.
Mum was staying in a hotel once and got talking to the chambermaid who cleaned her room, the topic got round to children and the chambermaid told mum that she had three boys Dirk Dean and Darren!!!

3andnomore · 29/02/2008 14:32

Well, I can't undestand why you are feeling so left out with this, this sort of thing wouldn't upset me.
If you truely don't like any of the other J names there are, then don't do it... personally, that would be an issue for me...I think it must be quite confusing if everyone in the family is J Blocks...bad enough with me and my mum inlaw, we are both K. something or other...and we don't even live in the same house, lol...

As for J names

Jack, Jake, Jacob
James/Jamie/Jaime
Jonathan
Jonah (love this name), Jonas
Jesse
Jason
John
Joseph/Joe/Joey
Jared
Jaspar
Joshua/Josh
Jethro (thanks to NCIS that name sort of has really grown on me, lol)
Jeremy/Jerome

If you're looking for unusual J names, how about Job (pronounced Jobe) or Jabez? Both biblical names but v unusual now.

bogie · 29/02/2008 14:44

Justin is my ds name we also liked joel

discoverlife · 29/02/2008 14:49

Might I point out a problem for the future. Once my daughter (with the same initial as me) and my son (with the same initial as his dad) started getting their own post, it got to be very embarrasing for the parents to receive horny teenage love letters. Or porn mag subscriptions. We also have had bills in our DS's name switched over to DH because he is the senior one in the family.

Scotia · 29/02/2008 14:52

Funnily enough, I know a family of 'J's as well, all except one girl - Mary Jane (known as MJ). I knew a family of 'S's too. This is SE Scotland.

3andnomore · 29/02/2008 15:23

Joss, is a nice J boys name, too....

yelnats · 29/02/2008 15:26

My mum, my brother and I all unintentionally have the same initials and it did get v confusing with the mail when I was still at home - just an excuse for my mum to open our post i reckon!
