Cassia & India or Isabella & Emilia

My DH and are due twin girls any day now (36 weeks) and are having a massive name disagreement.
I love Cassia and India, he loves Isabella and Emilia. We both like the others names, but I feel his are very popular, he thinks mine lack timelessness and class.
Neither of us like the two sets combined (we thought about India and Isabella for a but but matching initials is a no).
Which set do you prefer? Any suggestions that might please us both?

Isabella and India have a nice ring. Also Isabella and Cassia.

LauderSyme · 15/08/2023 21:58

Cassia is my favourite, Emilia next.

I used to really love Isobel spelt this way but there seem so many now.

Isidore/Dora
Inaya
Cornelia
Cordelia
Felicia

Cassie and India.

Isabella and Emelia/Amelia/Millie are soooo popular they’re overused. Especially when paired with the obligatory Rose/Grace/May.

How about Callie?

Cassia and India

oviraptor21 · 15/08/2023 22:13

Compromise - one of each

Cassia & Emilia

India and Isabella are both rather more common. Not that there's anything wrong with that but you both seem to be saying you don't like common names.

@Sayler , look at Baby names in England & Wales since 1996 (darkgreener.com) if you want to see how popular a name is. It only covers England and Wales, and it only covers up to 2021. The ONS baby names page has a 'popularity by area' map.

Cassia and Isabella

I'll pm you with my comments!

I don't like Cassia and I can't figure out why. I think it's the way it looks. Cassie sounds nicer than Cassia. I prefer your DH's choices. Maybe go for Emilia and India so they don't have matching initials.

Cassia and Emilia. Lovely Ancient Roman names! Go great together without being themey.

Otherwise,
Isabella and Emilia for me.

With twin names, you say both names together and awful lot. So do think about how they run together, particularly when you're in a rush or calling across a playground or something. For this reason, I think none of your names are the easiest, particularly not for the first twin, as it becomes CassiaNdIndia or IsabellaNdEmilia unless you have very, very clear diction. If they were called, say, Lucy and Kate, this issue disappears. The Isabella/Emilia combo in particular also has a lot of syllables.
Do also think through nickname combinations.

Love Isabella and Emilia

This.

Although I'm really not a fan of Cassia. Cassie I like.

I also love Isabella. And it's a very versatile name that gives lots of nickname options if she wants.

Really though, it doesn't matter what we think, it's what you like. :)

Neverseenbefore · 16/08/2023 08:10

Definitely not India! Far too problematic, and has been for ages.

Cassia and Emilia. I like Isabella, though.

OopsieeDaisy · 16/08/2023 09:08

I love Emilia and Isabella, not keen on Cassia or India. Emily and Isabella or Emilia and Isabelle would also be nice to get rid of the same end sounds.

Pocodaku · 16/08/2023 09:10

Cassia and India.
or,
Sativa and Indica.

cptartapp · 16/08/2023 09:41

Cassie (not Cassia) and Francesca (as pp suggestion).
Don't like the others. Particularly not Isabella.

caringcarer · 16/08/2023 09:57

I prefer Isabella and Emilia. Both very pretty feminine names.

caringcarer · 16/08/2023 09:59

If Isabella and Emilia they will probably be known as Izzy and Milly.

punnetofcherries · 16/08/2023 10:00

You choose one
He chooses the other

Then the two names left you have as middle names.....

CattingAbout · 16/08/2023 10:02

Isabella and Emilia are lovely names

I don't agree that India is timeless - it's very fashionable at the moment. And I'm just not a fan of Cassia.

UltramarineViolet · 16/08/2023 10:05

Cassia & India get my vote as Isabella & Emilia both too popular IMO

Having said that I much prefer Cassia to India and think you could do better

Cassia & Imogen
Cassia & Phoebe
Cassia & Jemima

frnames · 16/08/2023 10:16

India isn't even in the Top 200 names. Definitely not too common. I love it!

isthatabrickofgold4me · 16/08/2023 10:30

What about China, Korea or Brazil? They're a bit less common and have more of a kick.

mnumsnmet · 16/08/2023 10:35

Cassia - wintry cooking ingredient
India - a country
Emilia - ok but Amelia which is better is extremely common
Isabella - very pretty and currently very overused
