Rank my girls names please

Hello! I’ve narrowed down my girls name list to the below. Please could you rate them in order of preference and try not to be too harsh 😬

Dorie (after my grandmother, partner doesn’t like it though but it’s my fave 😭)
Rosie
Emma
Cassie
Eloise
Sophie

I like the names as they are and wouldn’t be putting longer versions on birth certs.

In order of preference

Emma - favourite by far, lovely, simple, pretty, traditional yet fresh sounding.

Cassie
Rosie - prefer Roseline, Rose, Rosanna, Roseanne

Sophie
Eloise
Dorie - prefer Dora

They are all gorgeous names, with the exception of Dorie (sorry!)

However, Dorothy with the diminutive Dorie would be lovely.

I love Emma (and Emily). Also really like Sophie. They've certainly aged better than Rachel and Laura (half the girls in my year had one or other of those names!)

I'm not keen on Eloise but now I think about it, I think I'm heavily influenced by a right little shit I once knew. It's quite pretty in it's own right!

Cassie is fine, wouldn't chose it but wouldn't pull a face.

Rosie is pretty but I've met 3 under 3 in the last month and a half, if that influences you at all!

Dorie- sounds like Dory, I wouldn't do it. Sounds like Dorrie, I think is cute toddler name..

Dorie is very special, but your partner doesn't like it.
Would Dorie as a second name be acceptable?

I had five Emma's in my primary class in the eighties. Every other forty something woman appears to be Emma (or Claire, which I've also seen get inexplicable love on MN). Mumsnet is weird; apparently Olivia and Isabel are " too common " or " boring" but Emma, Anna etc are loved. Emma and Anna are such dull names.

*I'd keep the Cassandra on certificate though, to give her options when she's order. Had a friend with a similar name situation, and since she's left school has wanted to use the 'full' version but couldn't use it as her parents just gave her the nickname.

Cassie- ok, but better short for Cassandra
Eloise - too much of a mouthful. Will be Ellie
Sophie - lovely but Sophia too popular

In my case, it's because names like Emma and Anna aren't frilly.
Olivia is nice but it's long, and it's lost it's novelty. Isabel is OK but again it is long and I don't like Izzy.

Claire is OK if you sound the r (e.g Scottish or French accent) otherwise it is just a dull sound.

All of these names are popular, but Emma and Anna seem to always be in use. I prefer Ann to Anna, but Anna, Hannah, Annie are fine.

i work in a labour suite.
eloise is the most u common (and beautiful in mho)
the rest minus dorie are quite common. like u will
have another in the class or close classes at school.
dorie i really don't like for reasons not for mn x

Dorie - sorry, it is cute but since Nemo I can foresee everyone thinking she is named after Dory the fish and misspelling her as such her whole life (unless she's going to be introducing herself as "Dorie with an IE not Y" to everyone she meets. Just not worth the faff, definitely a great middle name contender though.

Thanks for all your responses everyone.

Some nice comments about Dorie and I’m not giving up on it just yet lol.

I’m also going to add Carrie to my list as I have been thinking about it the past couple of days and think I have fallen in love with it! ❤️

now to think of boy names….

Oh and I also should have said that yes, Dorie is short for something; Dorothy.

However, the reason my partner doesn’t like it is because he thinks it’s an “old lady” name so I don’t think I would persuade him by saying we could put Dorothy on the BC instead 😅

I love Eloise. Strong dislike of Emma. I know a few Emma's (and Gemmas) qvery common growing uo in the 80s and 90s I don't think of them as classic or aging well unlike Laura.
