H H Alliteration!

So me and my wife are due soon, and we have only just agreed on a couple of boy names!…

Our favourite being 'Harris' or 'Harrison', paired with Horne as a surname;
So full name would be Harris(son) Frederick Horne.

I prefer Harris as its sharper… but that could be the shortened version?
Also worry about the syllables, and the complete name sounding like Harrisorne / Harrison!?

Can’t decide if it’s clashing, or works? Any advice welcome... Or it’s back to the drawing board!

'Arris 'Orne is too close to 'Arrison

List of names of famous Hornes

Honey Horne is definitely too strippery.

Thatsyourdadsmum · 11/08/2023 21:12

What about Smith, Johnson, Greyson, Cooper or Barrett?

Thatsyourdadsmum · 11/08/2023 21:14

Wilson
Robinson
Watson
Anderson
Peterson
Baker?

Thatsyourdadsmum · 11/08/2023 21:15

Baker Horne is quite nice.

caringcarer · 11/08/2023 21:19

Harrison Horne

Busubaba · 11/08/2023 21:45

Harrison Horne sounds okay.

Harris Horne, has a slight air of Cockney rhyming slang about it.

Harris Horne/Arris Orne - Porn.

Sorry.

Dasisr · 11/08/2023 22:00

I’m sorry but your surname is terrible. You need to find a strong completely separate first name to go with it and certainly not a double H or something that blends into it.

OnionBhajis · 11/08/2023 22:01

Our safeguarding/prevent training had us looking for "88" or "HH" as signs of the far right.

I really wouldn't.

Some examples I think that would work @Upatfiveam

David Horne
Michael Horne
Jacob Horne
James Horne
Liam Horne
Joshua Horne
Marcus Horne
Adam Horne
Rowan Horne
Rupert Horne

😂 got to laugh at MN! "Your first name choice is awful... but actually your surname is awful too." 🤦‍♀️

DuchessOfSausage · 12/08/2023 00:02

The surname's not awful, but it's not the easiest.
Roman is a popular boy's name
Aldo is a bit more unusual but in keeping with the -o ending of Hugo
Ryan Orlando is fab
Yannick is a bit unusual
Lorne Horne has a bit of edginess to it.

DuchessOfSausage · 12/08/2023 00:03

How about Frank Oscar George?

CallieQ · 12/08/2023 00:05

Don't like either
Try a proper first name

😂

Harris means arse around these parts and Harris Horne sounds a bit sexual 😱

Yes… somehow the alteration brings out the horniness in Horne, even though I’ve never heard of Harris meaning arse

DuchessOfSausage · 12/08/2023 00:07

@CallieQ , I thought the one before that was better. Wink

CallieQ · 12/08/2023 00:45

Lorne Horne Grin

NoTeaNoShade · 11/08/2023 17:08

I'm an HH (married) had no idea there were far right connotations 😳

So am I and nor did I!

NoTeaNoShade · 11/08/2023 17:12

I do sound like a cartoon character tbf

I've been told more than once that I sound like a character in a fairy tale. It was meant as a compliment.

OnionBhajis · 12/08/2023 07:59

Tbf although it's always in our training and we're supposed to "spot" it doodled on some work....

It's not something I've come across in real life! (Probably as the far right wouldn't be interested in what we deliver)
But now I know its an association though so it's not soemthing I'd choose going forwards.

OnionBhajis · 12/08/2023 08:00

Randy?! I am still amazed that's an American name (particularly when I met one)

Sorry not helpful 😁

DuchessOfSausage · 12/08/2023 09:47

@CallieQ , Ryan O Horne?

Randolph is ok, and could be 'Ran'

Busubaba · 12/08/2023 10:50

DuchessOfSausage · 12/08/2023 00:03

How about Frank Oscar George?

Brilliant. Grin

PickledScrump · 12/08/2023 13:49

Although I’m not a fan of Harris or Harrison, I think they sound absolutely fine together with your surname. I think it may depend a lot on people’s accent though, some people may blend them into one word.

GiveOverRover · 12/08/2023 13:58

Neither Harris nor Harrison, Henry, Harry, they all sound a bit like a 1950s variety act character with dubious humour making jokes halfpenny bits. Horne has got some connotations, best not to amp them up.
