Hi all,

Looking for suggestions for a middle name for Sadie. We have a common surname beginning with D.

names we can’t use are Florence, Imogen, Isabel or Grace.

Also preferably not a name ending with ‘ie’.

thanks! x

Do you have a loved family members such as a grandparent or aunt whose name you can use.
Most people have middle names, that mean something or are named after someone, rather than just a random allocated name, for no reason. I wish I had a middle name.!

How many syllables does your surname have? I think the rhythm of a name makes a difference and that it sounds better if the middle name does not have the same number of syllables as the first name and preferably the last. So say your last name was Smith, to me, Sadie Francesca Smith (2-3-1) would sound better than Sadie Freya Smith (2-2-1) or Sadie Jane Smith (2-1-1) …

Also, I would avoid ‘filler’ names that don’t mean much. When I was growing up (70s!) a lot of people had Jane as a middle name and it always seemed a bit pointless- like just another syllable on the first name. (Apologies if I have offended anyone!).

Rose, may? I think you need to go single syllable with Sadie as the first name

Done to death.🙄 Ones to avoid.

We have a Sadie Valerie (Valerie is my Nan’s name). We get lots of compliments for her name

Depending on the surname but I think another surname that means something to both of you is always nice. A grans midden name or a close family friend's name. My gran gave all her children a surname middle name and it shows the family links and different generations when I recall my aunts and uncles full names.

Jane?

Avoid all the vowels and T!
Avoid any with too many As and Ds like Adelaide or Ida

I like:
Katherine
Martha
Coral
Laura

So I am a Sadie Rose D (common surname!!) And I can confirm it's a good name to have, it flows really well and I've spent my whole life being complimented on it :)
