Is it worth adding an extra middle name?

Our friends and family all have one middle name, so for us it seemed quite traditional to have just the one.

When we were picking baby's name we were stuck between three names, so we used one name for first name, one for middle name and the other, we didn't use.

We've been regretting not using the third choice as an extra middle name but we've already registered the baby.

I know you can change a babies name up to one year but is it worth adding an extra middle name?

Many thanks

Why use all your favourite names on one kid? Save them for incase you have another.

We gave DD 2 middle names, but we knew she was an only and we both had a family name each we wanted to use. So she has a “new” first name and then a family name from each side as middle names. Which worked out perfectly for us.

its family tradition to have 2 middle names in both mine and DH family, but if you’ve already registered baby personally I’d leave it

I wouldn't but I don't really see the point of middle names, especially if they're all names that aren't family names.

I wouldn't go to the bother of changing a legal document to use a third name that nobody will ever, ever use, no.

It can make certain official matters complicated unless you always use the two middle names (and preferably they are not difficult to spell).
Land registry, Will making can be examples.

Ugh as someone with two middle names, please don’t. I hate how clunky my name sounds and also form filling is a pain, do I always have to put both?! Is just one ok on non official forms?
I get you might feel sad you didn’t get to use the one, but you clearly picked your favourite two!

My mum has 2 middle names and hates because all her names are really long (think 9 letters each!) so she has a nightmare on forms with boxes for the letters.

We are giving our expected baby two middle names but one is my maiden name which is very very short so just sneaking it in there! I say it depends on the length of the name overall.

I think if you are regretting it then get it changed. It's cheap and easy enough to do ( less than 30 quid) and you will feel better for it.

We did and I sort of regret it…but one just sounded lovely with her first name and the other is after a dead relative. We had our reasons but it flows better with only one of the names. Sentimentality huh!
