Ellie is short for?

DH likes the name Ellie. I don't hate it but would prefer a longer/formal version on BC to give her options.

I like Eleanor, but DH doesn't.

What other names could we consider.

Are you Eastern European? Because "Yelena" is how my mum's name is pronounced in Russia/all of Eastern Europe but she gets called Lena.

My daughters name is Elowyn. We shorten it to Winnie but we liked that Ellie was also an option!

I thought we were the only ones to shorten our Elowen's name to Winnie. We already have an Ellie in our family so we couldn't shorten her name to that!

We have an Ellena who goes by Ellie. I hated the spelling of Eleanor but people still spell it like that!
