Love this name but how popular is it?

How many little ones do you know?

I think it had a brief flurry a couple years back, but I don’t think it’s like Noah.

Have a check on darkgreener

chocolateisavegetable · 22/06/2023 07:37

I don’t know any and I like the name

notsayingmuch · 22/06/2023 07:45

I know one, but I keep calling him George by mistake!

Babies called Ezra in England & Wales since 1996 (darkgreener.com)

It's on a steep upward curve, so a bit trendy.
He could be one of several or might not.

I'm not keen on it but I'm not keen on the current Old Testament name trend.
If you like it, use it.
Does it go ok with the surname?

I know one who's 5 and one in his 30s

CoilQuestion12 · 22/06/2023 09:07

I know one who's 3. None at my 1 year old nursery, and none at my eldest school in reception (and that's about 90 kids).

It seemed like it was going to get super popular but stayed not overly so.

I really like it!

Popularity may vary depending where you live though. DS' name wasn't even in the top 100 and somehow there are another 5 that we know and are the same age. Gutted!

Raggeo · 22/06/2023 09:12

I know 2 under 3 years old. One pronounces the "z" as it is written and the other pronounces the Z more like how you would pronounce the S in Asia, if that makes sense. I keep getting it wrong and have been corrected a couple of times😅

17caterpillars1mouse · 22/06/2023 11:05

I know 1 who is 2 and I remember hearing it at the drs on a baby when I was pregnant with dd7

It's on our shortlist but the steep increase in popularity is putting me off a bit

Thanks all!

Makes me think of the nutty ctor chap.
But other than that, it's a fine name.

Namingnumber2 · 22/06/2023 21:04

I know one who's 3 months old

DiaNaranja · 22/06/2023 21:08

My nephew is Ezra, and I've heard a few 5 and unders, being called by their parents while out and about. It's definitely not massively popular where we are, but not crazily unusual either. I really like it. Nephew usually gets called "Ez" or "Ezzie".

arlequin · 22/06/2023 21:20

I like it too!

Its a toss up between Ezra and Adair. I've had lots of negative comments on Adair although we love it di thinking maybe Ezra.

I have a 5 year old Ezra! I think it's a great name- not biased at all. Grin We call him Ez and Ezzie for short.

Samzzz · 24/08/2023 18:37

My 2 year old is Ezra. When I named him everyone we knew thought it was unusual but now I feel it’s on the rise and I’m a bit gutted by it. Our second choice was Asa. I absolutely love the name Ezra and it suits him but a part of me wished we chose Asa.

Neverseenbefore · 24/08/2023 19:51

I think the trend for Old Testament names is on the wane, at least where I am. They are dad names almost. While Ezra itself hasn’t been too popular, it fits with that trend and I think it’ll look dated soon.

Vetoncall · 25/08/2023 01:22

I have 3 friends/acquaintances who have an Ezra, the oldest is 7 and the youngest about a year.

KirstenBlest · 26/08/2023 14:59

Adair is cool. Red Adair.
