Emma, Cassie or Mia?

I’ve always loved Emma and think Cassie is lovely.
I had never considered Mia until my 3 year old asked if we could have a baby and call her Mia and now I think I love it because she does.
I’m in very early pregnancy getting ahead of myself as usual but I love talking baby names!

Mia is lovely but fairly common these days. Cassie is my favourite! Emma also a nice classic.

i realise this may have been zero help 😂

TheMurderousGoose · 13/06/2023 16:48

I like Cassie the best. I don't know any Cassies but I know 92 Mias (slight exaggeration, but only slight!).

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 13/06/2023 16:56

I like Cassie best and then Emma.

Franseen · 13/06/2023 17:02

I like Cassie but it feels like a nickname, and I don’t like Cassandra. Cassiopeia is nice but might be a bit much! Mia’s really, really common.

Out of your choices I prefer Emma.

PossiblyNotOne · 13/06/2023 17:17

I find Mia really dull and overused these days, and always paired with Grace/Rose.

I like Cassie and Emma. How about Callie?

ThatshallotBaby · 13/06/2023 17:18

Love Emma so much. Could she be Emma Cassie Mia? Smile

PrincessHoneysuckle · 13/06/2023 17:29

Cassie.
If you shouted Mia in the playground at the school that I work in about 20 primary age girls would turn around. Its far too common imo.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 13/06/2023 17:30

I like Emma aswell

ourflagmeansdeath · 13/06/2023 17:53

Emma is beautiful, the best of the 3. Cassie is nice enough but prefer it as a shortening for Cassandra. And Mia is just a bit plain imo and makes me think of Missing In Action. It'd be quite nice to choose it though especially as your 3 year old suggested it but as a whole Emma is my favourite.

DuchessOfSausage · 13/06/2023 19:30

Emma is lovely, Cassie is fine.
Mia is overused and blends into the Maya, Mya, Maia, Thea, Sophia type names.
Mia has been in the top 20 names for 20 years so will probably fall out of favour soon.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 13/06/2023 19:53

Mia - too common
Emma - bland and definitely too common in my generation
Cassie - not a proper name. Nice if short for Cassandra.

Turnleftturnright · 13/06/2023 19:59

I quite like Cassie. I haven't heard of any Cassies for a long time. It makes a change.

sandrene · 13/06/2023 20:03

I find Emma a bit boring. Mia I think is beautiful! The only thing that has put me off that name is that it means 'mine' in Spanish and it seems odd to name a child like your possession. (I realise I may be overthinking this.)
Cassie to me is a less beautiful sound, and instead more of a 'cool' name. That said I actually really like Cassandra. It sounds mysterious yet classic, a bit frilly/extravagant yet also strong.

Birdiboo · 13/06/2023 21:03

Thanks everyone!
I’m in Northern Ireland and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of Mia’s here but I appreciate it is probably quite popular elsewhere.

I have always loved Emma, I know some think it’s plain and boring but there’s something so simple and timeless about it that I love. I’ve known lots of Emma’s over the years and never met one who I didn’t like. I also love that you don’t really meet many baby Emma’s these days.

Cassie is relatively new to my list but I don’t actually like Cassandra or Cassiopeia. I would definitely just have it as a stand alone name. I think it’s feminine but has a tomboyish element too and I’ve never met one!

xx

@PossiblyNotOne I do quite like Callie but it’s very similar to my own name so don’t think it would work xx

Cassia nn Cassie is great - I wouldn’t use Cassie as a full name

Otherwise Emma is lovely

Mia is a bit nothingy and has been recently way overdone

Spendonsend · 13/06/2023 21:26

I like Cassie best of those.

You could just about get away with jocasta or calista but i'm fine with cassie as a full name.

DelurkingAJ · 13/06/2023 21:28

I knew a Clarissa who was Cassie. Agree there are several Mias in both DSs years at Primary school. Emma’s lovely too.

OopsieeDaisy · 13/06/2023 22:37

I like Emma best of the three, agree with some previous comments that it’s a bit boring. What about Emmie?

user1492757084 · 14/06/2023 03:08

Emma is the nicest full name on your list.
I like Cassie and also Cassia
Mia is over popular. Your daughter possibly knows a nice Mia.

I know of four Cassies
Cassie - age 40
Carolyn - aged 55
Caroline - age 43
Cassandra - aged 39
Any name beginning with Ca can be called Cassie.

porridgeisbae · 14/06/2023 03:20

Emma is bland unless maybe hyphenated with a name of one syllable.

Cassie is OK but better to have a name that can have both the diminutive and the professional version once they want it for work etc. So you could use Cassie and she could at school too, but Cassandra on her birth certificate.

Mia is an eating disorder.

hellsbells99 · 14/06/2023 07:50

Love Emma - classic name
